Very heavy on the molasses nose and taste. Have only tried it neat, but am looking forward to mixing it. Very sweet with just enough burn to remind you what you’re drinking!

I’ve been a fan of dark and stormies before it was popular, as a kid my father always had a bottle of dark rum in the cabinet and I love ginger beer. I bought this to mix but on a whim I tried it neat and was blown away at how smooth it was! The strong molasses smell may turn folks off but it’s very complex taste, especially on ice, but amazingly smooth with very little burn! The only bad thing I can say is that the flavor is “clipped” in that it’s flavor upfront with no finish. I’m definitely going to keep a bottle in my cabinet, now to find the best ginger beer!

Having seen a few reviews for black strap style, I needed to try it. Certainly a bold style with lots of complexity, feels heavy on the palette. Not my style as a sipper on the rocks, and overwhelms when mixed with club soda, but works well with ginger beer as a stormy. Would use again that way

I love this as a mixer for anything I want to taste like a cookie. With that being said, it is definitely sweet, and if you aren't a fan of the heavier molasses tastes in rum, this isn't for you.

An excellent dessert rum, not for mixing but great for ice cream.

Nice one to have in your arsenal.
For a dark and stormy, for example, it really can’t be beat. Good stuff. Unique. At “the nice price”.

Definitely liked it better as a mixer with ginger ale. Not really a sipper

Yup, pancake syrup. And this is not bad if you expect it ahead of time. Give it a good deep inhale. Now go ahead and make a unique dark and stormy out of it. It’s super sweet, sugary and spice and once. But that smell is pure delicious pancakes. That is not an insult. I also have made a couple tiki drinks with this for a unique kick. A staple on my shelf. Not for everyone though.

I might put this stuff on my waffles, but I’m not gonna drink it

This beats the hell out of Goslings for half the price. This will be in my next Dark & Stormy for sure. It is really quite good all by itself. Much smoother than Goslings with more complexity and less contrived sweetness. Better on ice than neat. Well done Cruzan. Good stuff here.
