Old Monk XXX 7-Year

Glad I tried it, but no rush to try another bottle

Compared to some the bigger name rums this does not stand up. Unique to have in your collection but I would not offer it to drink. Taste has a sweet vanilla finish, a smell that is hard to pin point and almost artificial. It was ok as a mixer but not straight

The smell already was weird, a mix of vanilla and citrus
Then the taste, overly sweet, like a Jagermister, will have more vanilla and coffee too.
I would actually not really call this a rum, more a cough sirop.

I can't drink this by itself. Heavy vanilla and something fake or plastic almost. I'll have to drown it in Coke.

This was my first try at indian and maybe my last. Right of the bat the smell was bizzare. I tried just a sip and it was the most disgusting rum i've tasted yet. Than i tried it with a coke and once again it was probably the worst rum and coke i've had in exception to the one i drank in clubs. The taste was more like a cheap vodka rather than rum. On the upside the bottle is really unique and nice looking it could be a good looking bottle in a bar.

As an IT professional I might have some prejudices. It's not a bad rum, but on the other hand it has nothing to offer. It's just like calling from UK to British telecom helpdesk and ending up in Bangalore. It does the job but that's it. Let me try another sip...

I rarely throw away spirits. But that 's the case.

Нос: горький шоколад, табак, ваниль, корица, чернослив. Аромат не классического рома, есть сильное влияние посторонних ингредиентов. При этом он не спиртовый, умеренно мощный, но если описывать одним словом, то мне на язык приходит только это: затхлость. Может быть так и пахнут старые монахи?
Вкус: достаточно мягкий, в меру спиртовый, кофейный. После глотка во рту остаётся неприятная горечь. Это не горечь спирта, больше похоже на жжёные зёрна кофе.
Финиш: короткий.
В составе указаны только вода и ромовые дистилляты. Скорее всего это не соответствует действительности, т.к. ром явно категории «пряный» и по цвету и по органолептике.
Не в моих правилах смешивать алкоголь с колой, поэтому ничего не могу сказать насколько он хорош в коктейле, но многие хвалят.
Даже учитывая низкую цену данного напитка, рекомендовать не могу, слишком экзотично и неестественно.

Unique nose with some butterscotch. Really strong taste, even more vibrant than most 151s I've had. Honestly I didn't like it at all, maybe some do - but just too harsh to get many flavors. Friend of mine says it tastes like an oyster with some brine. Likely good for whiskey drinkers.

I can't help myself but this rum had harsh alcohol taste mixed with vanilla. I had to throw up after I tasted it. Sorry.
