Esperaba mas de un ron de 23 años. buen aroma dulce y afrutado, con toques de madera. En boca bastante simple, equilibrado, no demasiado dulce, no demasiado alcoholico, nada de otro mundo

Bought this due to an in store recommendation. It's not as bad as the low scores here but also not as good as the high. It does mean towards a molasses forward flavor which are NOT my preferences for rum. But it is not too far forward. The flavors are kind of a mash up, and not necessarily complimentary of one another. It's a complex flavors profile but not necessarily in a good way. It is a heavy and dark rum. I threw ice on it to thin it out. Not one to sip neat. But I think this might go well with ginger beer, but I wouldn't mix it with coke. Again, a bit of an anomaly here. It is relatively smooth, and has that going for it. Also, I don't detect that there are added sugars to this, as it's more subtley sweet. At the end of the day, I won't buy again. Too many other great rums out there, I'll pass on this one.

Pěkná barva.
Vůně - karamel, dřevitá vůně. Ne moc výrazná
Chuť - příjemně hřeje, ale nechutná mi. Čokoláda

I tasted this rum without having any previous knowledge of it. I was thus excited to try a rum that claims to be aged for 23 years. Unfortunately, the rum does not feel as refined as the aging would suggest. Other than that, the label claims that the rum is produced in Mexico and comes from a single barrel.

On the nose, the rum is not too expressive. It does not feel aggressive on the nose and mostly entails notes of vanilla and something sweet, perhaps some orange. There is almost no alcohol burn when you smell it, which is a nice surprise!

The rum itself tastes bitter in an unpleasant way (at least for me), which I suppose comes from the oak barrels. The taste is heavy on woody and earthy notes, and the taste is intense. The aftertaste is slightly bitter and similar to raisins. Overall, quite dry, although with a slight hint of sweetness.

As a sample, it is a nice view into Mexican rum but honestly, I would not want to drink an entire bottle. The rum is just way too heavy on leather, wood, and earthiness. Additionally, the labeling does not seem honest.

This came highly recommended by the nice young lady at Total Wine. I had never heard of it, and figured we'd give it a try. Poured neat, it has a light bouquet of fruity tootsie rolls. It as a thin mouth-feel, and tastes like it would be the aged upgrade of the cheap rum that you might get at a hotel's free happy hour. Not anything like the sipper I expected from the recommendation or reading the bottle.

Smells like whisky at first. A bit of a burn. Not really sweet

As many commented before me, it gave some false hope having '23' written on it.
On the nose it seemed fairly OK, but the taste is of burned wood/charcoal. It doesn't burn too much but then again, there isn't that much else to taste. Could have sugar added since it has somewhat a 'fake sugary' taste.

Sweeter aroma. The woody flavour, almost neutral body, tail absent

Dark, dark amber in the bottle. Darker than any extra aged rum or bourbon I've experienced. A lot of anise/black licorice on the nose with almost a medicinal tar or asphalt as well. Will have to visit again. Hard to really pinpoint but something is very much "off". The unpleasantness follows through onto the pallet and finish. Think Beemans gum that fell onto fresh paved asphalt. Purchased at the recommendation of the spirit steward at Total Wine. Going to see they'll exchange or at least taste to see if this particular barrel (it is a single barrel rum) was off. Initial tasting out of a Glencairn glass, neat, and let rest for 15 min before tasting.
