I was looking forward testing this Rum! it is one of top 10 tested Rums at Swedish site Romrom.se and scored 9,2 out of 10 points. It is produced by one of my favorites Oliver & Oliver on Melass and Solera model up to 23 years. Nice smell of honey and syrup. The 42% takes down sweetness and takes forward more clean tastes. Strong aftertaste! Round and good. After new test I would like to upgrade this from 9 to 10👍🏻
One of last years absolute stunners! In that price range it is some of the best I have ever tasted. Sweet, silk-soft and so well balanced.! Fat body and a nice warmth to it!
It's characteristics and quality is pretty close to another dominican rum, the Quorhum 30 Aniversario. The nose is full with notes of caramel, coffee and chocolate. The palette is big bodied with ripe notes of sweet brown sugar, coffee, leather, wood and spicy tingles in a rounded package. The afterburn is a sweet, long and creamy, warming sensation. To me the slightly more expensive Quorhum 30 still comes out on top though, with better complexity.
Good and decent rum. Great value for money. Dark brown color. Lots of vanilla and caramel. It is sweet but not so much it makes your teeth hurt.
Esclavo XO Cask Strength is definitely more interesting IMO.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Another masterpiece from Oliver & Oliver
Beautiful dark amber in glass, like forest honey.
In the nose, as in hot caramel dipped dark roasted wood with prunes and cinnamon garnished.
The palate, very soft, sweet and round, a little Solera typical, yet very interesting. The tongue is caressed by the wood and caramel. Aromas of toffee, dark chocolate, dark stone fruit and dark spices join in harmoniously.
In the finish, sticky caramel on the wood, which accompanied me since the beginning. Tasty and long lasting.
A typical O & O Ron like Opthimus or Quorhum, therefore rating only 8.75
For beginners and connoisseurs.
Edit: December 2020: New presentation, very elegant and top fashionable.
Rich amber with mahogany tinge in the glass.
Very hard wood notes on the nose, some fruit and caramel.
Warm, sweet and smooth on the palate, chocolate with caramel, bits of fruit and a few snippets of wood.
Finishes with fruit, caramel, cocoa and a very slight bitterness.
Not a 1:1 tasting, but remember the old version being more full-bodied. 7.5
