The bottle is cheap, yet bright and not ugly. Stunning aroma of black currant, yeast, duchess, tree bark. The taste is sweet woody with significant bitterness, which is masked by sugar. This Brazilian moonshine has enough symbolic accompaniment to give a burst of animal warmth and energy. And after the whole carnival, the reckoning will overtake the state of health for the low degree of purification and added sugar. .......
Caution, this is the only cachaca I have tried so I have nothing to compare it to. It starts off nice, vegetal and mildly sweet, but there is a lingering note of something very unpleasant that I don't know how to describe.
This is the 1st cachaca I have ever tried and while it tastes rough neat, I believe it brings enough of the grassy notes to a basic caipirinha cocktail as well as a batida de coco. Can't wait to explore further with this class of spirits.
Nothing special when tasted neat. Good for the famous "caipirinha".
If you want to taste a real caipirinhas you have to get this bottle. Get a big glass, cut 1,5 lime, 2 tea spoons of brown sugar and get to work crushing everything. Add crushed ice and cachaça and shake that baby!
I would love to travel to Martinique, but until then, I can sample the rum for a taste of the island. A bit dry and oaky for my taste but quite flavorful.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
