This rum. Is rum.. simple as that that. I'm Australian and I think I drink Bundaberg rum for purely that reason. For the standard working class man here in Australia who want to drink rum, this is the rum preferred. For those who prefer a quality, more complex rum, I suggest you broaden your price range, as any rum connoisseur will be greatly disappointed with this one.
A sweet sugary rum, almost like whiskey but ok with coke.
"The Original". 37.0% ABV (one of those oddly and unnecessarily specific values...). Faintest nose of any rum I’ve tried. The flavor isn’t bad, but it’s also not really there. And there’s enough ethanol in the nose and dry heat in the mouth (capped off with a super short finish) that I doubt it would be pleasurable at a higher proof. So, I really can’t recommend this to anyone, even for cocktails (and fortunately, this can’t legally be sold as “rum” in the US). It’s inoffensive, but I just see no reason to go back to it.

For many years, this was the only easily purchased rum in Aus. Sadly, most of us HAD to drink this stuff. Thank god for the importers who have now introduced easy access to wonderful Caribbean rums. There is very little positive feedback to offer on this variant of the Bundy offerings. However, they do produce some really nice small batch stuff - worth exploring...
Maybe Australia developed different tastes before the era off globalisation. No disrespect to Aussies or to the Czech scientist who modernised Bundy production in the 1950s but by international standards this is a rough product with a harsh aftertaste. The distillery in bundaberg is worth a visit but I think production has been moved south....
I grew up on this stuff & thought it was OK, until I started sampling others.
Definitely only to be consumed with a mixer.
Ive only tried this of the range and wouldnt say no to investigating some of their others but for me it just didnt excite me. It was different and ill give it that but thats about it really. Not as smooth as others in the same price and i certainly wouldnt be drinking this one neat. Maybe im just a lil dissappointed as i expected more from the producers of what i think is the best ginger beer available!?!

So this rum is an Aussie icon with a lot of history. I grew up on a sugar cane farm and in the cutting season fresh cut paddocks have an amazing smell. The same rich sugary molasses aroma can be found in Bundaberg UP. Best mixed with Coca-Cola as it's rough on the palate. The cane sugar after taste is what i love and will go back for, personally it's a nostalgic thing for me. As far as a refined and complex go, except to pay more.
