PRESIDENTE EL GRAN RON DEL CARIBE 23 ÅR SOLERA
Score: 7,5 -
God fyldig smag med masser af gode indtryk, slutter med lidt peber.
(For 300-350 skal den købes med hjem.)
(2022 - 8,0 - god duft, god smag lidt tobak i eftersmagen men tilforladelig. JEG ER FAN)
Colour is dark, almost mahagony tint. Smell is decent, light and sweet, you can smell the varnish remover hints, which is expected for Oliver's. This is aged by solera, so 23 years carry significantly less weight.
Taste is mix of raisins, cherry, banana (especially on fresh bottle, it quickly fades) and molase.
If you are in for dessert, there is one. Sweet, so sweet, balanced but uninteresting. With price tag something like 40-45 EUR, this is rather underperforming.
For something called Presidente, you would expect character, but there is none, only empty promises. But that's maybe what they meant by the name...
Honestly, I will keep the bottle for the ladies and for some cocktails mixing.
Just a good balanced rum, smooth with a good but short and simple aftertaste.

Bottle at home.
Was discouraged by the price of the 30yo, so got the 23yo instead. This 40% alc. rum has a very complex and interesting taste, nicely bitter, with little to no alcoholic burn on the tongue. I should say bitter taste is the hardest one for me to find in drinks and foods, from all the 5 basic ones, so I much appreciated it in this bottle, along with the sweetness, which exists, but is not overwhelming.
Had notes of Cola, Molasses, Leather, Oak, Tobacco, Caramel, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, and Cinnamon
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

7,2:On the nose, the Spanish style is evident: sweetness, caramel and vanilla. As the nose moves further into the glass, other aromas emerge, including citrus, vegetal notes and, a little in the background, milk chocolate. There's perhaps a very timid hint of wood and smoke.
7:On the palate, the attack is very soft; this sweetness, which even increases with each passing second, accompanies us throughout the tasting.
7:The finish has a sweetness that lingers on the palate and tongue long after the rum has been swallowed. Slight notes of vanilla and orange and a discreet woodiness round out this gourmet profile.
