Presidente 19-Year

Nice dark green bottle in historical style, 40% ABV. This is a solera with the oldest rum up to 19 years. The individual components of the rum were aged in bourbon and sherry casks. Such a classic.

Colour: Dark Amber
Nose: Sweet and fruity. I could detect vanilla, banana, mango, raisins, caramel and especially chocolate. The scent is very soft and pleasant.
Taste: Smooth, but less savorous than the aroma. Although the taste is sweet, it is not irritating. I smelled vanilla, chocolate, caramel, raisins, and some woodiness and pepper at the end.
Aftertaste: Quite short.

This is a good rum, but I was expecting a bit more full-bodied flavor. It is a good choice in its price range. It tastes similar to the green Diplomatico, but I liked that a bit more.

Overall rating: 8/10

To be honest this is not on my favourite list, I would give one-two points less but my wife likes it so here is a good rating :)
She describes it as "sweet tobacco" which is actually a quite close call. Strong, aged, oaky flavour, less sweet but quite smokey taste. Resembles a bit of a good whiskey. Those who like this kind of taste should absolutely try it, for the others, well there are other better ones out there...

I bought this bottle due to the high rating it gets here and the different reviews. There are awesome reviews but there is also some criticism so it made me curious to try it myself.

Let me use the words and content from the reviewers with criticism about this rum:
"Nose is great but then, there’s some weird sour fruity thing going on immediately on the first taste." This sour taste keeps holding on that it kills the beauty of this rum! Is it a bad rum? NO but please forgive me to say that it isn't a great rum either!!!

En rigtig god og sød rom, meget blød og behagelig. Det er et meget stort 8 tal.

Vôňa úplne podobná so zbytkom španielskych rumov z degustácie. Chuť však bola zaujímavejšia. Bolo cítiť dlhšie zrenie, karamel na záver vôbec nevadil. Kľudne na pitie počas celého večera.

Vynikající sladší rum, vyvážená chuť i vůně. Pro mě vždycky sázka na jistotu. Také jeden z prvních rumů co jsem ochutnal a proto se k němu rád vracím. / Excellent sweeter rum, balanced taste and aroma. For me, always a sure bet. Also one of the first rums I tasted and that's why I'm happy to return to it.

I was pleasantly surprised on how easy to drink was this rum. Nice and easy at first, a bit spicy finish when you can sence the alcohol.

But not to buy it again. Something not working for me.

Presidente 19 anos, una meraviglia di sapori. Vale la pena Top.....Nulla in paragone allo Zacapa 23 , allo stesso prezzo , presidente tutta la vita.
E' Tra la mia top 3 di sempre. Bella anche la confezione. 10 lo merita tutto.
