Traditional Bajan rum. Moderately rich and easy to drink.
It has nice caramel, oak, oily nuts, and coconuts flavor.
Everyone, should get this.

Volles Aroma, sehr gut. Echte 12 Jahre, kein Solera. Nicht nachgezuckert, trotzdem angenehm süß.

There is very little burn in sipping this and it has a toasted oaky vanilla flavor that comes through. It's not as bold as Doorly's 12 year which has a more dominant copper and aged fruit like flavor. IMO it doesn't have that coppery like flavor of rl seales 10 yr or Doorly's of any kind. It's smooth on the throat for sure and definitely woody w some brown sugar. It's like an unsugared and smoother Pampero Aniversario RE. This has sweet wet oak flavor and pretty sharp tannins that are different from other foursquare offerings, I love it. Update: just tasted this after tasting Don Q Anejo and the toasted cocunut flavor of this rum becomes highly noticeable, smooth and delicious, gotta drink it straight!

My first exploration of Foursquare and Richard Seale. A purest delight. No sugar added so you get a true taste of his rum. Very balanced with many nuances on the nose and taste. Vanilla, caramel, toffee, citrus with a hint of tobacco. As a fan of El Dorado 15 and 21 year I must admit this made me rethink my ratings for these.

Verkostet wurde die Distillers Proof Version mit 46%/vol. Alkohol.
Beim dritten Anlauf endlich folgender Eindruck.

Satte goldbraune Farbe.

Another great bottle from the island of real rum. This one get straight to the point and is a little more heavily bodied then you usual Barbadian. My nose fills with notes of leather, oak, coconut and pepper. In the mouth I pick up a dark character with notes of oak, leather, tobacco, orange-peel and spices. Despite the manly character, it's a pleasingly refined rum that's well executed. The taste and color feels influenced by the barrel, but it never goes overboard. Thumbs up.

this is tremendous. so much barrel and bourbon character and yet the molasses flavor and spice aren't lost. delicately sweet without being cloying. one of the better rums i've had.

Having sampled a variety of rums I started to find I was liking Barbados the most and was excited to try an offering come out of Four Square. The price on The Real McCoy 12 is certainly not entry level but I had been burned by another rum in this range so it took me awhile to give it a go.

Wow, what a treat. To be honest in my tasting experience it reminds me a lot of my Privateer Queen's Share. The barrel notes on the nose give me a light firewood feel and the taste finish is buttery to me. I'm not great at picking out flavors but I really feel like occasionally I get some coconut taste in this one. I think the standard vanilla, and brown sugar notes are there in taste also.

So far, in my 20 or so rums tasted this is my second best rum ever. Very excited to try more from the Four Square distillery including branded Four Square offerings.

It was interesting taste testing this against Plantation 5 as another aged blended rum. Side by side the depth of this rum stands out as well as the sugar added to the Plantation. I also tried it against Flor De Cana 12, although I realize that is column only, and man does that rum seem thin next to this. Even at the same age.

Great flavour, picked this up since I couldn't find any Four Square. Good rum with lots of complex flavour.

.....................................................................................................................................

EN:
the mccoy range is very close to the whiskey style, but if it were whiskey it would be in the upper range).
close to the 5-year-old with pronounced aromas of caramel and vanilla and with a strong hit of alcohol.but it feels older) more finished, more rounded
there seem to be some tropical fruits in the background that betray its origin of Barbadian rum.
