Dominican Republic | Gold | 40% ABV
Brugal Anejo rum is a blend of rums aged 3 to 5 years in used American white Oak barrels that previously held whiskey and bourbon.
The rum is produced in the Dominican Republic by Brugal & Co., a company that was founded in the late 1800s by the Spaniard Andrés Brugal Montaner. Today, the Brugal rum company remains largely in the control of Montaner's direct descendants.

Si sente molto il sapore dell'alcool, ma ha decisamente il suo perchè in alcuni momenti.
at least disapointing product…
too young… too nothing…
Alcoholic nose and maybe wood
industrial product
in any case only for mixing..
in the price range try plantation original dark if you like more sweet stuff or abuelo anejo if you are more into dry-whiskey like- stuff.
Much better then bacardies and captains at pretty much same price or higher.
First sips were a bit strange but then when you get used to it it’s fine.
Vôňa trochu syntetická. Chuť jemne nasladlá, koža, tabak, karamel a dubový sud. Dochuť trošku neprijmná, alkoholová. Za cenu cca 15€ je to OK voľba. I keď mám obavu, že pri celovečernom pití by bola bolesť hlavy.
Najlepszy rum w tym przedziale cenowym. Idealny do drinków, cuba libre świetne. Solo raczej z lodem. Nie jest pieprzny, alkohol fajnie ukryty.
First time I tried I had impresiion that it had been made with something moldy. Year later bought it again in other store. The same impression - they add somethin moldy. Even Coke didn't help.
Easy drinking. A gift from a good mate for my birthday back in September.
Found a sample at a local Spanish store (they had a lot of samples, what a great store). Brugal añejo is a light rum from Dominicana, bottled at 40 %ABV. The bottle design is a bit trashy but it makes it more authentic in my eyes.
The nose is not too complex, composed mostly of light and sweet aromas. One can immediately catch notes of molasses, caramel and vanilla. After some time, the aroma of orange zest appears, which becomes the main olfactory topic. Sadly, the clear presence of ethanol notes makes the aroma vodka-like and unpleasant in general.
First sensations in the mouth are much like tasting vodka, with sharp ethanol at the first stage. Then the sweetness appears, trying to make up for the unpleasant mouthfeel. Molasses and burnt sugar are the most attention-drawing, with oaky dryness in the background. Syrupy thick sweetness remains in the mouth for a while.
Despite disappointing aroma and flavor, this rum offers a pretty cool aftertaste with orange zest and burnt sugar.
I believe much has been added to turn neutral alcohol into rum in this case, however the resulting mixture lacks complexity and coherence. It has somee nice traits but it's too close to vodka to be enjoyable.
Nice gentle notes of vanilla and banana with a slight nutty aroma and a light oaked aroma.
"The rum is fairly smooth, however this gives way to a very strong burn upon swallowing. There are notes of oak and tobacco throughout the tasting but they aren’t very hard hitting at all."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tastes of strong Oak (which I really like!) extremely good in diet coke, very woodsy.
A step up from appleton estate v/x rum and around similar prices so get this one! Smells very similar to Ron Abuelo Anejo. I enjoy this one.
