Malteco 15-Year

Po otevření lahve lihová facka, první panák tak dokonce i chutnal (čímž míním: nechutnal mi). Na rozdíl od produktů pánů Oliverů se do tohohle ale vpít ještě dalo, leč žádná radost.
S novým designem už Malteco není z Guatemaly, ale z Panamy; logo (údajně znázorňující opeřeného hada Quetzalcoatla) zůstalo stejné - a blábol "Reserva Maya" rovněž.
Nedovedu posoudit, zda by je s takovouhle kořalkou staří Mayové kopli do prdele, ani zda guatemalská verze byla lepší, ale obé pokládám za poměrně pravděpodobné.
Současný panamský produkt je na údajně patnáctiletý rum opravdu hodně nudný; jen fakt, že aspoň není moc drahý ho zachránil před ještě horším hodnocením. Skončil jsem tímto navždy nejen s Maltecem (a firmou Savio, respektive s italskými distributory rumů vůbec), ale na nějaký čas i s novými experimenty - proč pořád zkoušet nové hnusné rumy, když už znám tolik dobrých rumů, které mohu spokojeně chlastat až do smrti?

Takže dopočutia - alespoň dokud mi zas někdo něco nedaruje, nebo dokud třeba zvědavost opět na chvíli nepřemůže racionalitu...

Trying out the 10yo and 15yo Malteco in 50ml tasters I am surprised I like them despite the quite present added sugar. Not overly sweet but too much for a higher score in my book. Both have enough stamina to balance the sugar by the way.

The 15yo is rather similar to the 10yo but is a little richer in scent and taste. Vanilla and a peculiar mix of floral notes combined with rotten wood (in a good way) in the nose give it a rather unique scent. On the palate there is a slight bitter (chocolate/coffee) that helps really well to compensate for the added sugar. Finish is more present with the 15yo and of the two I think this is the better one, but the difference is too small to justify their difference in price.

The 10yo is a genuine sipper for around €20 around here (and a steal at that) while they charge €30 to €40 for the 15yo. And I don't think the 15yo can make up for that; I ended with a sip of the 10yo and that still stands upright!

Mir persönlich zu sprittig, evtl. taugt er in Cola, pur für mich nicht das passende

patnásťročný rum by mal mať v sebe viac, chuť priemerná a navyše alkoholová v závere.

Day 5 of my Advent calendar. This rum is drinkable neat but still too sweet for my liking hence the low rating.

Hade höga förväntningar på denna. Men var väldigt smaklös, känner lite vanilj och frukt, men ingen eftersmak, försvinner direkt i munnen. Tråkigt.
