Smells like a very harsh bourbon with some vanilla notes. Flavor subsides into still 90% bourbon but with that 10% Agricole grassy flavor with a touch of rotting fruit funk at the end.
7/10 for a daiquiri. Grassy notes come out more, great flavor, but then the oak overpowers it at the end. Can’t wait to try the blanc instead
After I've tested Canne Bleu I expected for more from this rhum. But my hopes are broken - this one was not so bad but not so great like his "blue label"...
I had read great reciews about Clement so I was very excited to find this at my local specialty liquor store. After letting it sit for 30 minutes in a snifter, I took a whiff and honestly couldn't tell this was rum. It smelled more like whiskey/bourbon to me. The taste to me was not much better. There was quite a burn and there was an overwhelming taste of mildew that completely dominated the taste profile for me. It was almost like cork taint, but there's no cork. Just wasn't the best for me, especially for $35. I hope the rest of you have better luck with this one.
Smakade väldigt mycket whiskey och det gillar jag inte. Hade hoppats på lite lötare smak.
This is my first taste of an agricole rum. I’m not sure if this is a good example of the type but it was not for me. It wasn’t the worst I’ve tried, but close. I can see the attraction of this type. Clean taste that is clean with no lingering effect. It is very overpowering and bourbon like. Also has an earthy taste like the cane plant itself. I will be a while before I try another agricole.
After giving a rave review to Select Barrel about a year ago, and trying it again last week, I should considerably downgrade my rating and also to warn other guys. The last year bottle was purchased in the Duty Free shop in France. While this time I got it in the Dubai Duty Free upon departure.
It's like I was tasting 2 completely different drinks. Tastewise the bottle purchased recently is totally different from the one purchased in 2019, it tastes extremely harsh and lacks any aroma, but testes like cheap whiskey or bourbon, forget about to sip it, even mixing with a coke doesn't help much.
Moreover, the more expensive Clement Very Old Rhum had obvious sediments in the bottle.
It looks like the Clement's quality control sucks.
I would avoid buying anything from this company from now on, since the quality is not consistent. There are way better options on the market at the same price, or even at lower cost.
This is my review from last year: "Very balanced and easy to drink. A bit of sweetness in the palate makes it an excellent companion with a light-medium bodied cigar like Quai d'Orsay 50 or Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure 2."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This was the medium bodied sample in a French tasting I did, and the medium body is at least accurate. Smelled decent enough, but had a bit of a burn on the way down. Not something I would rush back to at least as a sipper.
