Abuelo XII Two Oaks

Smooth, subtly sweet and a touch dry. Pretty long aftertaste with vanilla lingering on the finish.

It is elegant rum on the sweeter side but with a well-balanced oak smell and aftertaste.

Returning from Panama yesterday I had the pick of the litter Cuban rums, Panamanian, you name it, glad I chose the Two oaks. Silky smooth heavy oak tones pairing nicely with a Cuban cigar. If you like smoky oaky flavor this is for you. Deep dark brown color oaky on the nose, and first sip, then lingers with a slightly dry long finish.

Repeat, must have!

Good looking bottle holding a dark amber coloured rum. Opening the bottle gives a sherry aroma then when in the glass you get the oaky and tobacco flavours. A lovely sipping rum with a slight sweetness and a light burn on the throat. If you like a smoother rum then you would score this an eight or more.

I like Albuelo brand , but this one is more on bourbon/whisky side.
Colour-darker coloration. Taste-spicy and warm with sweetness of molasses
and brown sugar,the texture is on the lighter side. Not extremly complex but easy to drink stuff.

Jak název napovídá, rum je stařen ve dvou typech sudů. Nejprve zraje v sudech po bourbonu (Jack Daniels). Následně je uložen v sudech z amer. bílého dubu. Tyto sudy jsou extra karbonizované (vypalované) po dobu 60 minut při 180° C, aby se otevřela jeho dřevěná konstrukce. Poté se vypaluje při 220° C, kdy se vytvoří porézní uhlíková vrstva o tloušťce 7-8mm. Tyto sudy byly vyrobené pro Varela Hermanos společností Segvin Moreau.
Obsah cukru by měl být 20-30 g/l.

Beautiful rum with an initial sweetness that then evolves into several layers of other flavors. Finish is smooth and fairly long. I used the Rum Ratings special and just bought two bottles.

I got this in my rum pack and it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Not much of any burn and great vanilla flavor giving way to brown sugar and oak on the back end. I really enjoyed this sipper.
