If this is the best that your store has, you'll be ok buying this, but there are many much better rums out there. Too much burn and oakiness to realize any other flavors.

This one is easy to drink, and easy to like. Brown sugar all the way. Want to get your friends hooked on rum? Zaya. Great bottle too.

Price jumped in the past year or so as it really caught on in the northeast, but it's still worth it.

This rum is great! If you can find a bottle from Guatamala buy it. The newer ones are from Trinadad and just as tasty. Love it!

Dark color with a faint aroma of vanilla. It is definitely enjoyable as a sipping rum. First sips are warm and smooth with an enjoyable faint vanilla finish.

I was in a rush while shopping and read 12-year claim on the label without understanding what it stated. I still don't, even after having time to think about it. At first glance, it looks like it claims to be an aged rum with 12 years in the cask. I went back and read the label again after shocking my tastebuds with the first sip and saw that the wording is such that it can be confusing. It's not a 12-year-old rum. The claim is that the blend of rums in the bottle somehow adds up to it being the equivalent of a 12-year-old rum. What the heck does that mean? The claim is quite a stretch in all honesty. It is smooth and not biting, but rather than being in a mellowed from age way in a glycerine additive way, and pretty close to sickening sweet with an overwhelming scent and flavor of vanilla, and in my opinion not even close to a real quality 12-year rum. I struggled to find ways to use it to make it more palatable, Zevia stevia-sweetened cola was the best of all the combinations, but even then it felt like a sugar overload and it just wasn't enjoyable. I suspect they changed the recipe somewhere along the way. How else could it have ever received all the positive reviews in the past?

Zaya is a good rum and very easy to drink. Tends to be a little too sweet for my liking but has a smooth mouthfeel and very little burn. It is extremely easy to drink and very enjoyable.

Very tasty. Excellent value at this $30 price point. Fairly sweet with a rum-arisen like taste profile. Wish it had a bit more body and complexity but still something to sip on a regular basis.
