Abuelo Reserva Superior 7-Year

In my opinion a good and economical rum for every day, sweet in aroma, woody and intense in the first sip and in the taste palette (vanilla, caramel) moderately sweet and with a long peppery aftertaste that remains for a long time in the mouth, not very good balance between them, I would buy it again.

A nice full and strong aroma of sultanas, vanilla, chocolate, caramel and burnt sugar. Nice full body and slightly pungent.

Flavours of caramel, vanilla, some oak and more earthy flavours, and hidden in the back there were musky hints of leather. It is nicely full-bodied but very sweet /sugary

Finish: Tingle continues to play nicely on the palate. The finish is long with flavours like leather and tobacco.

The next day, I did notice sugar left in the glass. Unfortunately, sugar and colour have been added. It contains a whopping 15 grams of sugar! Nevertheless, a fine rum but due to the additives and the fact that it is very sugary, I cannot give it more than a 6.

For the nose - quite good and tough. Neat tasting - tasty and wooden. In cocktails - very nice, a lot of spices, not too sweet. Quite a finding, recommend

Tasted at Laka Lono on 7/25/19. Less aromatic than the 3 year, but this is quite boozy. Lots of banana esters. Honey sweetness. Mild palate with a peppery finish. Quite good for the price.

This was the first brand and edition I ever tasted. Out of different Abuelo’s we (it was a bachelors party tasting) all liked this one the most. Apart from the memory, the price an quality is good. It has cherry and wood scent on the nose, almost like a sweet red wine or port. The texture is thick and nice with vanilla, smoke hints and dark chocolate. All in all a no-brainer to have a bottle around the house for casual moments.

This rum is fairly sweet and somewhat young, but offers great value for money. I tried this alongside the 12 year expression and I actually prefer this one. It is sweeter, but nowhere near as sweet as many sugar added rums at this price point.

Well balanced rum with which the oak hits you right away and fades to a burnt leather. Not too sweet and inexpensive. This rum is sure to please. This offer is only missing those complexities that would make it reach the higher echelons of your cabinet.

Smooth on taste, aromatic, not to strong, generaly good rum. If only the smell is with more caracter would be perfect.

I drink all rum cold with 50% pepsi max. This one is very good, not sweet but very tasty and a but addictive.
