Malibu Coconut Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and blended with coconut and sugar. The brand is owned by one of the world's largest spirits producers, Pernod Ricard.

Currently produced in Canada, Malibu Coconut rum was originally made in Curaçao from fruit spirits flavored with coconut and rum. The original recipe was developed as a shortcut for bartenders making Piña Coladas, however today the stands on its own.

Malibu Coconut Rum…Malibu is synonymous with the flavored rum category. Heck they might have invented it! Isn’t this usually everyone’s first coconut rum? Here I am just now getting to it. Was it worth the wait? Nope.

The aroma when I first opened the bottle was very nice. Pretty much what i expected. The smell suntan lotion. It’s like being poolside at a cheap hotel on a hot day. The taste? I was a bit let down. Sure there was some coconut and sugar. Lots of sugar really. But still I can’t believe with all that sweet how much of a bitter finish there is in Malibu Coconut Rum. Quite a bit of astringency for only clocking in at 42 octane. Even with a very small amount in my standard Tampico Citrus Punch that bitter finish just reared it’s ugly…tail.

The verdict? I will stick to Whaler’s or Cruzan for my low octane coconut rum mixers. Parrot Bay 90 proof coconut rum when I need some kick.

I grew up on this rum, 25 year ago there were almost nothing, but this "rum", in our developing country. It was perfect then, but now it is barely drinkable, mostly for the amount of added sugar.

This is a super sugary coconut rum.
It's only good for mixing but it works

Fiatal korom kedvence...azért 4 pont. Amúgy 3 lenne. Kotélnak vagy long drinknek. Ennyi.

If you're looking for a cheap rum to spice up your cocktail this is the one for you. If you want a coconut rum with more flavor, look elsewhere.

Save your good stuff and get this out for the party’s. Goes well with most mixers but pineapple and coke are my favourite to be fair. Nice refreshing drink also very cheap and cheerful.

Everyone's probably tried this once. I quite like coconut, but this is just terrible. Nothing to do with rum, really.

Tenhle rumový likér mám spojený s dovolenou u moře a s večerním posezením u plážového baru. Vhodný do míchaných nápojů s deštníčkem, tak i samotný. V chuti vás zahřeje kokosový ořech který je zcela dominantní. Je to sice kýč, ale i přesto ho mám rád.

This is very sweet, I usually like sweet rums, but this one has an artificial coconut flavor.
