Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

This is it as far as i'm concerned, balanced flavors, wonderful aftertaste that stays and a good price. You would be hard pressed to find better.

So up until today my favorite fine sipping rum had been Montecristo, that all changed when I had a glass of El Dorado 12-year. This rum is a very smooth rum with fantastic tropical notes and a hint of honey. The rum is very smooth and I mean very smooth with an alcohol content of 40%. It has barely any burn and tons of flavor. It doesn't have a sharp alcohol taste so this rum allows you to savor each and every flavor. It has light notes of bourbon but not so much that it overpowers the rum. You can taste the oak but it's a very subtle flavor, the oak flavor complements the tropical flavors quite well. This is one of those rums that takes forever to drink because every sip gives a different experience. On one sip I tasted oranges and on another I tasted hints of some citrus and even some pineapple. This rum is truly an amazing choice and definitely worth having a bottle of. I did find that drinking it neat was great but adding one ice cube actually opened up the flavors even more without watering the rum down.

This is one of the best rums I have tasted. It has a light tase and a lingering finish. Slightly fruity aroma. I donโ€™t think it is overly sweet.

Excellent smooth taste of vanilla, burnt caramel and made using pure molasses

Smooth, hints of toffee and vanilla. Over ice there is no burn or sharpness. I think it would be a waste to mix it!

To match the depth and quality of the El Dorado 12 yr you will have to spend a lot more. This rum is everything it set out to be and more and is a basic pillar of a good rum collection.
