Kaniche XO rum is produced in Barbados where it is first aged in bourbon casks. It is one of the few rums that is then double aged for a more mellow finished in Pierre Ferrand ex cognac casks at their location in France.

Sweet with nice dept and long aftertaste.
This nose is a fun one! Pretty alcoholic at first, but it quickly clears up to reveal oak and cola, before morphing into a smokey brown sugar, similar to a barbeque sauce, with tropical fruit lurking underneath.
Aging the rum in cognac casks brings out a lot of that same characteristics you see in Plantation, but more so for all of them. Kaniche XO carries sweet, strong flavors of molasses, papaya, toffee, baking spice, and just a smidge of coffee. Finish is rather short, but the delightful flavors and phenomenal smoothness of this rum make it a star anyways! If you're a Plantation fan, I would highly, highly recommend this! (And if you're not, then I just highly recommend it!)
UPDATE: Hot dang, this stuff is so nice! Poured myself a glass tonight for the first time in months, and realized just how easy I could down this stuff! Simply marvelous!!
This rum is good!! I enjoy the smooth non astringent oaky aroma. The flavor really shines as it has subtle flavors of oak, tobacco and a slight citrus/floral essence. Highly recommend as a sipper and at $25 it's a steal.
For the money, this rum hits all the high points. It's great by itself, works wonders in simple agreed cocktails, and isn't expensive. It lacks an upper level complexity, but for $30 you don't really expect that anyways. Go grab a bottle!
Har masser af kukus noter og sรธde frugter. Der er som man sider der nede.
Kaniche XO rum is produced in Barbados and aged first in ex-bourbon casks (customary for rum) and then given a finish in cognac barrels (unusual in the industry but more customary for Kaniche)... hence, "double wood" rum. The suggest looking for "exotic notes" of vanilla, coconut, and cocoa.
Gave this a shot based on some favorable reviews here. Nice presentation. First whiff some coconut , banana with a hint of orange. Taste: Sugarcane, vanilla, and a hint of coconut, a touch of oak and cognac -an excellent rum.
Highly recommend
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Like others have said this rum is a tad on the sweet side, but still an excellent sipper with lots of cognac notes to it but still staying on the lighter side. The finish on this rum is one of the longer ones I have had and can still be noticed on the palate a few minutes later.
