I love this rum. I discovered it a few years ago on a trip to New Orleans and find that it is just a good all around rum. It mixes well and is fine for sipping. I just wish it were easier to find here in Pensacola, FL.


Got this at L&M Package Store in Gulfport, MS and am very happy to have found this brand. Nice smooth flavor. Good rum. I would have rated it a 9 but the bottle I have has a somewhat "plastic" flavor mixed in with the rum flavor. Perhaps I got a bad bottle. I really do not know. Of course I am sipping this straight as I do with all the rums I sample. Blackstrap molasses and raw sugar cane are used to make this rum which is then aged for an undisclosed amount of time to produce this "dark" rum. A rich amber color is the result with definite oak tones to it. It's a bit buttery on the tongue and that plastic flavor takes away what should be a delightful rum. Even with that in mind there is a noted mild sweetness to it with hints of vanilla and caramel. It still remains a good rum but I want to try another bottle when I can to see if I may have gotten a tainted bottle.

ADDENDUM: Does quite well in Coke Zero. 3oz in a 20oz Coke Zero (normally I use the 16.9 oz but this one what was onhand) but that plastic flavor is still present although mellowed quite a bit. Definitely want to give this a second chance. This line of rums deserves...no...DEMANDS a wider distribution. In my humble opinion.


I got this as a gift from my daughter's boy friend. I've been curious about this brand but it hasn't been high on my list. WHAT WAS I WAITING FOR???? This is an amazing tasting rum.


Created using local sugar cane grown in Lousiana, the rum is deep, smooth, and dark. Perfect for cocktails that require sipping


It's a respectable offering, and one of the better aged rums from a USA distillery. However, it's really middle-of-the road to me.


The versatility this rum possesses is very unique . Any whiskey cocktail you make, can be replaced by using the Rougaroux Fullmoon . Hints of vanilla, caramel, and the oak you get from the aging process. Enjoy this in an Old Fashioned, Cuba libre, or I love it on a big chunk of ice. Perfection. Donner-Peltier knows what they are doing.


Happened upon this rum at one of Danny Meyer's concept, Blue Smoke in New York City after reading about the rum in Chilled Magazine. It made the perfect Cuba Libre. I like the oaky notes and just the right amount of sweetness. Anxious to bring this home as a sipping rum.
