Smooth, oaky, nice abv @43% really enjoyable refreshing taste bought for a bargain which may have influenced my rating but only slightly. Will consider this as a staple. Yum! Edit - just lacks a little funk so dropping to a 6

Pre mňa základný Mount Gay, ktorý ocenia skôr začínajúci degustátori. Jemné drevite tóny, náznak ovocia a karamelu. Pre mňa ale ďaleko za verziou XO, alebo nebodaj 1703. Zodpovedá tomu samozrejme aj cena.

Mount Gay Black Barrel is a traditional rum from the island of Barbados it’s a limited édition.
It’s a mix of rums from pot stills and old rums distilled in a column still.
The whole is refined in American oak barrels which previously contained bourbon and which were deeply burned in order to allow the wood to reveal its aromas.
The whole process delivers a rum that is both balanced and highly flavored. In the mouth we can smell the vanilla and the woody aromas. It is a very elegant rum!!!

This was my first bottle of Mt. Gay, light on the Molasses, baking spice notes and astringent qualities.

This is lovely sipping and/or cocktail rum. There's no added sugar and it's bottled above the legal minimum. There's a nice vanilla cake batter note that I always get from Mount Gay along with brown sugar, molasses, and oak.

Good rum with a bright tastes; notes of wood are hidden in there. Tastes a little cheap, but worth a shot.

Overall smooth rum, slightly smokey with raisin/currant notes.

Solid blend with a good price and quality. Lacks complexity but no one expects this much in this range. A rum that i can recommend.

Pro milovníky ostřejších rumů , celkem chutnal i mě. Ve vůni a chuti převažuje aroma starého sudu po bourbonu a dubové tóny. Pro milovníky suchých rumů - začátečníky nedoporučuji, je zde dost cítit nahořklost a pepř.
