Caroni 2000 Velier 17-Year rum

Caroni 2000 Velier 17-Year

Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 55% ABV

The distillery closed in the early 2000s, but was well-known amongst rum connoisseurs for its heavy style of rum, typical of British navy rum. This 17-year-old edition is rich, thick and dark and a perfect example – not a rum to be messed with.17 years old rum bottled in 2007. Stock of seven barrels. Bottles produced 2700

Only 2700 bottles in the world. Alcohol forward nose a bit of a burn on nostrils but not overproof level even though this is a 55% abv rum. Has a sherry nose, bit of a woody wine taste with a sudden harsh burn that mellows out quickly the. A slight metallic taste lingers.

You feel the caramel and oak on the palate, and the taste is balance… to a certain extent. I am giving it a 6 because it is too alcohol forward… and flat on the finish in my opinion.
