This rum isn't bad by any means, but for me it's not quite at the level where I'd drink it neat. It does make for a good mixer, though.

I first tasted Borgoe Extra back in 2005 in the middle of the rainforest in Suriname. I assumed it was a very high-end, top-shelf rum because it was smoother than any other rum I'd tasted. When we asked our guide to bring us some more and asked him how much it cost, he told us it was very expensive -- a whopping $6 per (750 ml) bottle! I was stunned and wanted to buy cases of it, but they would not allow it to go through customs for some reason.
I do still wish I could buy it here in the USA. I'm sure it costs much more now, but undoubtedly worth every penny!

I personally like 21 yr old solera rums and this one is quite refreshing. For more money you can get better 21yr old soleras but for the price this one punches above its weight. Finishes like apricot.

Smooth flavor and best enjoyed neat or on the rocks!

Similar to Paul B, I expected something like Pusser's Gunpowder (before they dropped the Jamaican component), Black Tot, etc. It was more restrained than I expected, probably because of the lower proof. I didn't get the burn he did, but otherwise I largely agree with his impressions. Even if no sugar was added, it was pretty sweet, but with enough depth to keep me coming back for another sip. At this price, you absolutely must give it a try if you have the chance, if you have any fondness for British style rum.

Great tasting rum, smooth taste, very little after burn, so good i had two glasses, quite a woody smell and taste, but mixed with an underlying sweetness of raisins and sultanas. added to my wish list.

Lovely stuff, tried it back to back with Ron Zacapa XO and found this to be superior out of the two, lovely vanilla aroma, smooth vanilla, coconut and caramel taste. Lovely stuff.

Not bad, dark and in the style of a navy rum, mixed with coke, molasses taste, slight afterburn, on a par with Lambs, Captain Morgan Dark etc.

Wow, this stuff will knock your socks off, massive pineapple punch to begin with followed by a salted caramel after taste, smooth sipping and a explosive finish as it lands in the stomach. i have been reluctant to try this as it just screamed hype to me.... I'm now off to buy a bottle.

Dark, almost black in color. Sweet oak and coffee on the nose. Very sweet and full bodied coffee liqueur and aged rum taste. If you like sweet, aged rum and coffee, you better taste this.

A little too fruity for my taste, and my taste is to drink it straight , no ice . For the price level you can get a slightly better bottle. I will drink it with joy in any occasion

This is my first US rum.
The rum is bottled by the Danish independent bottler RomDeLuxe.
The rum is 3yo and aged in american oak barrels, comes from the Richland Distillery Georgia, USA.
It’s distilled in a Copper Pot Still from Cane Syrup. Many Danish web shops says it’s made of Cane Juice, but on the bottle it says Cane Syrup.
From nose, via palate to the rather long finish it’s nutty and fruity with hints of vanilla and oak, but the nose is weak.
I’m quite sure that there’s no sugar added instead the sweetness comes natural from the cane.
Finally there are some similarities with Agricole, which I like.
Overall a very good rum to be so young that tastes a little in between Agricole and more traditional rum.

I'd say it's a ladies' drink. Nothing for rum lovers, I can imagine mixing this into sweet cocktails, but that's not what we want here I guess. Definitely can't imagine pairing it with a cigar for instance.. Not even a beginner's choice, this is really just a syrup. Even for this (low) price there are better options.

Together with friend we had idea to try something completely new and unknown. Based on reviews here I found this rum and its producer. You can't get it anywhere else.

Of course that's not something for purists. There is no transparency how the rum was made, I just got statement it is blend of 6y old but no information what type etc.
And it is full of sugar for sure. But somehow it works.

This is drink you enjoy during unpleasant and cold weather.

It has long end, I can still recall the taste up to half an hour. If you let it breathe (30min+), depend on used glass, it gets nice smell too. In taste it is very much as port wine. I'm in love with 20-30 years Porto and this reminds me it a lot.

Definitely this can't be compared with destileres having 20-80 years of existence and products aged for generations (12-30y). That's just 3 gentlemen made a blend of relatively young (6 years) rums and made something easy to drink and enjoy. Bravo.

Compared to premium rums, this one feels almost like a cheaper liqueur with rum taste. (almost..) The taste isn't whole nor complex, it's rather a mix of different ingredients somewhat working together. I guess some people might like it.. Maybe I'll give it another try some other time..

This one is quite unique, the taste is very alcoholic, feels almost artificial. I can understand why some people dislike it. As for me, it's not really bad but definitely not for everyone.

The flavour isn't very sophisticated, rather very sweet, as if they were adding extra sugar, so it's surely easy to drink even for total beginners. Clear notes of vanilla and banana, overall not bad but doesn't feel premium.
