I am heading to Las Vegas in about two weeks and noticed not one single rum bar listed here under Bars. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Larryhal: I will be staying near Vegas in about 10 days, but nowhere near The Strip. I did look at Tommy Bahamas website and an article raving about their wall of 150 rums. However, I saw no menu at all for their rums, just for their cocktails. Then I went to Yelp to look at photos. And there it was! Countless flavored rums from Bacardi, Captain Morgan, and Cruzan, just to boost up the numbers. Yes, there were a few rums at $60 per shot or more, but not many at all. Those are also rums that will never be available again, so they are of no interest to me (Pyrat 1623 and Black Tot). I am better off going to Frankie's Tiki Room. They may not have 150 rums, but only a few of them are flavored for the sake of use in their wide variety of Tiki drinks. I will pass on Tommy Bahamas, but thanks anyway.

The Rhum Locker in Las Vegas at Tommy Bahama is a good choice of find many Rums you want to try. You can even buy flights of 3 or 4 rums.

Jeffmo62: Thanks for the tips on Las Vegas bars with good rum selections. I will be returning to Vegas at the end of January, which is 10 months after my very bad accident there. Using your tips, I went to Yelp to look at pictures of menus and the inside of each bar. The focus is all on custom made Tiki drinks, which is not my thing unless it is another attempt at the perfect Mai Tai. The decor of Golden Tiki is out of this world, but I nearly barfed when I saw their recipe for Mai Tais. I have learned a LOT by reviewing rums on here for the past two years. When my all time worst rum is used for Tiki drinks, that tells me to stay away. I have a real authentic Tiki Bar not too far from where I live, and my focus in Vegas would be to try a few rums that I have not tried or are very hard to get. I hate to say it, but none of those bars meet what I am looking for, except for Frankie's which has about 200 rums to choose from, and most of those I have already tried. I am now down to repeat purchases for my 45 best buys out of 271. Thanks for the tips anyway!

When in Las Vegas check out Starboard Tack. Not a fancy bar and off the strip but theyโ€™ve got a great rum selection and they know their cocktails. Herbs and Rye is another too cocktail bar with a good rum selection. Of course Frankieโ€™s and the Golden Tiki for both the vibe and the cocktails (and Dole Whips at the Golden Tiki).

After one month, I was back to normal and did not even get a blood clot. My trips to Total Wine And More in Summerlin were the highlight of my stay. The nearest one from my home is 400 miles away. I even had plans to take the excellent Vegas public transportation to Frankie's so that I could avoid a DUI, but I could not even walk to the bus stop a half block away.

Avoid going up or down escalators at all cost!!!! My right foot wound up in my face and it took me two hours just to be able to walk again after the accident. My entire right leg turned purple from the bruises. Lots of rest, protein, and rum healed me to the point whereby I could return home after five days. That was my fourth and final visit to Vegas since 2003, all for the sake of hiking Red Rock Canyon and Valley Of Fire.

I never made it to Frankie's Tiki Room or any other rum bar because I was seriously injured as soon as I arrived to the car rental center. I was stuck in my nice hotel room far from The Strip for five days using my own pain killer of (you guessed it) 5 new bottles of rum that I could not get anywhere else. I flew to Vegas mainly to hike in the gorgeous areas surrounding it, so this trip was a total waste.

Tommy Bahama's restaurant in Town Square Las Vegas claims it is "home to the largest rum collection in Las Vegas". I've eaten there, and their rum selection was very impressive.

I answered my own question with a little bit of internet research. I found Frankie's Tiki Room has almost 200 rums to choose from and are priced very reasonably for each pour. They have at LEAST a half dozen rums that I have not yet tried and cannot wait to try! For those that win the jackpot, a pour of Diplomatico Ambassador calls out to you as their most expensive. They also have a large selection of Tiki drinks served in a great atmosphere. Can't wait to get there. Unfortunately, there is no hotel within walking distance!
