I want another shelf...own but not opened

Hi Tom, I replied to your email a little more indepth - but in essence I'll put it on the list of potential things to do. I've been working on the ratings stream which is now up, and next is user profiles and pulling in price information.

I like the way the ratings are now. Much better!

Great idea, MrTomHexor! @Andy: I think it would be wonderful to have as much shelves as one wishes to have. and be able to customize them (give it a name, description, color, ...). Thanks!

Helle to everyone, I like the idea too. I have several Rum bottles in my wishlist, that are not tasted yet, but still waiting on my shelf at home. .....so a shelf.....waiting for tasting.....would be great.

Ok, enough of you seem to want this 3rd shelf that it makes sense for me to ask my developer how much time (how expensive) it will take to implement. Question: what would the button and cabinet area be called? Right now there is the cabinet and wishlist. What would you suggest this 3rd shelf be called and what should the adding button say?

"Collection" would be good. Should be able to include items that you have already reviewed.

I prefer it the way it is now. It's supposed to be a site for rating and discussing rums. If someone is having trouble keeping track of all the rum they buy (really?!) there are plenty of apps out there to help you get organized.

Why have a separate app when this site can cover it all. It can be below the wish list so it won't get in the way for those who don't want to use it. The extra shelf would be good for me. My friends and family know I am a rum pervert, and check out my entries. With a collection cabinet, they will know not to buy me another bottle of Pyrat XO (Mr. Coughy's fave).

It may also open up discussions for people who are interested in trading an unopened bottle.

Andy I am fairly new to "Rum Ratings" and really enjoy reading the various treads and rum reviews. I realise this topic is over one year old but I agree with other members that adding a "Collection" or "Unopened" third shelf (which would allow the member to add a rum already reviewed him/herself to this third shelf) would be well received by most. Just wondering the status of your inquiries and possible timeline if/when such "third shelf" will actually be implemented. Thanks

I think instead of having an hardcoded 'Unopened' third shelf, it should allow custom 'named' shelves. These would be just like the wishlist (no rating), but allow us to specify a unique name and share. Just like amazon wishlists, you can have as many as you like and give them a name: "Wishlist xmas 2017 for aunt May" or "What to look for and buy in my next Havana trip".

Very cool idea to let users name the shelves, thanks much for the suggestion - will definitely see what we can do in implementing this. It took a while to get the new location functionality up and running, now that it is I can finally move on to new projects :)

I love this idea. Over 1/2 of my wish list is rum I own but haven't opened yet, waiting for a special occasion for some, just pacing myself for others of them. Andy, this site and app are priceless. Do you have a Patreon account for people who would be willing to help support your efforts?

I also support this idea of a collection cabinet. Since I also have a decent collection of rums that hasn't been open yet. But overall I'm very happy with the rum ratings app 👍🏼

My dad gave me a bottle of Zafra 30 for a Christmas present. I have not opened it yet and plan to save it for a very special occasion, such as one of my daughter's weddings or maybe one of their college graduations.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for your suggestions regarding a new cabinet. We have just pushed out an update so you can add ad many custom cabinets as you'd like! Just simply head to your profile and click on the settings button. At the bottom of that page you'll find the ability to create a new cabinet - name it anything you want! Let me know how you like it and if you can think of improving this feature in any way :)

Hello boys and girls, in my opinion this is a place for rating rums. So if you want to rate some rum, first you have to open it, pour a glass, spin (or take a little rest) and then taste it. If this is right, you don't need any shelf for unopened bottles. For example, in my place I have some 50 bottes of rum or so but there are 0 bottles closed. Each rum I got as a present or I have bought, was opened and tasted, so that I knew what kind of present I got. I am not a heavy drinker but if you are rum lover you should know what you have and dont be afraid to open your bottles. Peace.

I've no idea how you can have a bottle of rum sat unopened on a shelf.

That’s right, it's a place to rate rum ! But it's your personal shelf too, you can name it like you want, you can use it like a reminder or a specially wish list or whatever. Some of the rum Lovers wait for a special occasion to open a bottle or give it as a present to the youngster for the 21 birthday. Otherwise it's a nice heritage for the relatives. I don't want to own an opened bottle from my grandpa. ;-) Maybe some buy some bottles bevor it's out of stock or it was a Special Price. Some collect rum for some reason. I'm not a heavy drinker too and I have never more than 20 bottles open at the same time, because once you opened the bottle the rum doesn’t want get better (at the beginning for sure, but after a year or two). If a bottle is empty I open a new one. Wait and enjoy ! :-) Let's get a sip of nice rum ! Cheers !

This feature solves the Complete Rum Inventory List problem I was having including rums I haven't gotten around to rating yet. This is a great feature when I'm in that nice NYC liquor store so I don't accidentally rebuy that $100 rum from Panama. Thanks!
