Venezuela | Aged | 40% ABV

Santa Teresa 1796 rum is produced in Venezuela and aged using the solera system that blends rums aged between 4 and 35 years. Before bottling, the rum is aged for a further year in large French oak casks to marry the blends.

Good but not the best. It was good for a try.

This was given to me by a bourbon drinker. His wife bought it for him in error. This is very easy on the pallet. Perfect for sipping.

Personally, it didn't match up with what I like in a rum. I enjoy smoother and sweeter rums, where as this one is more "spicy" and dry with a decent bit of alcohol burn. Having said that, I actually enjoyed this rum, which I think says a lot since I usually don't like these kinds. It had a lot of flavor and tasted to me like what you think of when you try to describe rum to someone. Not my favorite, but I know a lot of people would enjoy this one.

Sweet and well spiced with a nearly perfect balance of alcohol%

At first I though it's maybe too dry, a bit excessively whisky-like. But as I slowly drained my 1L bottle, I become more and more enamoured with it. Rich, balanced, with great scent, very fine sipper and an excellent addon to drinks, turning any daquiri or mojito into a 5 stars bevarage.

I'll definitely buy it again in the future.

A very well rounded rum with fig, dates, sultana raisins, slight apricot, caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla cream, brown sugar and some cinnamon spiciness in the background. A finish of medium length yields more sugary sweetness, toffee notes, chocolate, sultanas, some burnt caramel and charred wood notes at the tail end.

It’s okay for sipping but has a flavor I’m unsure of, would not buy again.
