Venezuela | Aged | 40% ABV

Santa Teresa 1796 rum is produced in Venezuela and aged using the solera system that blends rums aged between 4 and 35 years. Before bottling, the rum is aged for a further year in large French oak casks to marry the blends.

This rum was first created in 1996 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the distillery, the Santa Teresa Hacienda.

This sweet venezuelian rum is just fantastic. The smooth taste of it is similar to the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. A great rum!

A great tasting rum for the price. Best served neat over ice. It’s very smooth and has a slightly spiced taste. Would highly recommend.

This was given to me by a bourbon drinker. His wife bought it for him in error. This is very easy on the pallet. Perfect for sipping.

It is too good, this is the only defect. It miss imperfection. Full of aromas and tastes, smooth, toffe, caramel, coffe, chocolate, very easy and pleasurable to drink.

Purchased a bottle online. Complex flavors of fruit, vegital (grass) and something I can only describe as age or musk, reminded me of some sort of leather note. Different and very enjoyable. After taste lingered with light sweetness. Poured a small glass and enjoyed neat, looking forward to trying it with a few drops of Spring Water. I saw where other reviews stated as good for mixing. I wouldnt put this Rum in a mixed drink, the flavor is far to interesting and enjoyable.

I have shared this rum with many friends and family, and have yet to find anyone who didn't like it. This includes people who don't usually drink spirits neat.

I tried this alongside Plantation XO 20th Anniversary and El Dorado 15. I find it has a similar flavour profile to Plantation XO, but has a bit more character and complexity. El Dorado is a completely different style, I find.

The nose is incredible and invites you to linger longer than you might otherwise. Warming the glass with your hands enhances the nose and flavour further. This is my favourite sipping rum so far.

Many people dismiss rums with added sugar and though I tend to prefer slightly sweeter rums, I'm not so keen on overly sugared rums. Santa Teresa claim 4g per litre added sugar and people have tested it at 5g up to 6-7g. That's nowhere near as heavily sugared as many.

What can I say about Santa Teresa? Being in South Florida we have a large Venezuelan population, so I was lucky enough to get exposed to it early on…..has a slightly dryer and smooth taste, mixes beautifully with some lime and Demerara for a very polished cocktail….I’m sure it’s just as good neat if that’s your thing. It sells out frequently in local stores and it’s easy to see why….one of the very best.

This is one smooth rum without any cloying sweetness or added flavorings. It's a perfect straight-up sipping rum, one of the best in the $50 US category. Excellent.
