Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

There's no doubt, Zacapa 23 is great for the premium rum industry. I'd guess its the most prevalent aged rum out there, and brought many newcomers to rum.

I like Zacapa 23 but not as much as Diplomatico, El Dorado, an others. It has a great rush of initial spice that dissipates quickly and leaves the mouth with a slightly oily sweet molasses finish.

For a ‘10+ year’ aged rum, I wanted more subtle notes. I get a blast of butterscotch and caramel with a little nutmeg and maybe even an olive note - but generally a little bland without much depth

It's all been said before, but this is not even close to 23 years old, it's coloured and sweetened and you pay for the marketing gimmick.

Other than that, it's drinkable, but way too sweet and one-dimensional for me.

Spicy and strong, with many different flavors. I would definitely buy it again.

my favorite rum so far, along with angostura no 1. I tried the zacapa xo separately and alongside with the 23 and the 23 got just a better price taste ratio. the taste for me is well balanced with a sweet ending.

good slipping rum with a good price. I would put it in the middle

If this were 30$ a bottle I’d give it a 7…. But at 80$ CAD a bottle I was expecting a much more balanced rum. This is very harsh especially compared to some cheaper counterparts (Havana Club 7 years for example)

Worth a taste but disappointing in my opinion….

Guilty pleasure as there is plenty sugar added however Zacapa is a great bottle to pull out at parties if "the guys" wanna drink rum.

Notes of Caramel, vanille, cinnamon and dried fruites.

Way too sweet, way too flat.
I had low expectorations about Zacapa, and I was still disappointed.

A great smooth rum, a little bit of sweetness flavored with caramel and vanilla. Definitely a must try, I find it a little expensive, would compare it to El Dorado 15, but would definitely choose ED15.

Pil jsem hodně dávno a tehdy mi rumy ještě moc neříkaly. Nyní jej mám nachystaný k opětovnému ochutnání a zhodnocení. Tak uvidíme :)

Sweetish, soft, balanced, not alcoholic, without any development throughout testing. Suitable for drinking in company, but expensive a little bit.

Ничего особенного, дороговат, переоценен. Чуда не случилось.
