Bacardi Gold rum is manufactured in Puerto Rico where it is distilled from fermented molasses. It is then filtered through charcoal and aged in charred oak barrels for between 1 and 2 years. Unlike Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold is only filtered once.
Bacardi's official logo, a fruit bat, dates to 1862 when founder Don Facundo Bacardi found fruit bats living in rafters of the building he bought to house the distillery. Bats are considered an omen of good luck in Cuba and have emblazoned Bacardi rum bottles ever since.
Horrible stuff. Why is this the standard well rum? No wonder more Americans don't like rum.
Not a great rum but not awful either. But if coke and it's fine
Nice nose considering it’s a mixer rum and relatively smooth with no real flavor. Again not created for sipper but with coke does balance well. For smoothness with coke good but if your looking for flavor notes from rum it’s lacking.
This is not a sipping rum. The only way to drink it is with Coke or Sprite. I will not go out of my way for the Gold.
Not a sipper. When used with coke makes a decent Cuba Libre.
I pretty much only have my rum with a little coke and sometimes lime. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being a broke college kid looking for anything cheap, and 10 being a rum snob), I'd have to say I'm a 4 or 5. I definitely appreciate the various flavors of rum and I don't only drink cheap stuff. This rum was okay at first. But the more a drank it, the more it began to have a funky flavor. The only way I can describe it is a chlorine aftertaste.. But it's fine for mixing, I just don't like having more than one in a sitting or it starts tasting funky.
Have trouble even finishing a glass of this stuff. Maybe its ok with coke but not straight up
I like the Bacardi Superior (silver) better in a Cuba Libra (rum & coke with a lime), as it really pops with the lime. If I'm drinking just a rum and coke, however, the gold does add another dimension.
Almost every other rum I have ever had was better than this, including some whites. If you absolutely have no other option, use it as a mixer. Very strongly alcoholic, which is reflected in the taste and the aroma.
You will probably never want to touch it again if you drink it straight.
Ron accesible de precio que es clásico para comenzar a degustar Ron.
Bacardi Gold puts up a good fight. Nevertheless, I find Havana Club gold superior. Drinkable only in cuba libre (lots of coke, not good rum)
Un ron que me enamoró desde muy joven ya que era de los mejores para mi bolsillo y una calidad que hasta ahora es indiscutible.
Kinda over dramatic on this. Started with this and superior to rum... so i cannot give horrible rating but i know who i am when and how i started :)
Was doing the job before getting exposed richer rum life.
If you are partying and really do not care about complexity flavor finish nose etc. Drink it it will do the job. :)
For everything else start looking other rums.
Nice entry level rum imo.. tastes good with coke and tastes not bad straight. Fine for mixing of when you don't want to spend to much! Nothing special though!
Not very good.
This rum is a mixer only, nothing special about it.
Never seem to like Bacardi very much, not exactly sure why but underwhelming every time.
So many good rums out there that there is no reason to buy this one.
On the nose: freakin terrible, almost sickening with strong notes of gasoline and detergent. Not nice.
In the mouth: Strong burn, some notes of coconut and sugar cane but not a nice experience. Definitely not suitable for sipping. Not even good for mixing as the bad taste contaminates the cocktail with unpleasant notes. Very overpriced. Absolutely not recommended.
RomJones does not approve.
Love it, drink it every weekend. Its not the best but always reliable.
I just like this one with a coke as a Cuba Libre. It drinks nice and easy and it's way better than the superior.
too simple in comparison with others gold rums, only for mixing
Cheap fix for mixing with soda not much else i would use this rum for
Ok so there is no way you would use this as a sipper but thats not how its marketed. Assessed as just as what its meant to be this is a good middle of the road mixer thats perfect for a party. It mixes ok and has no outstanding personal notes that get in the way of that use. For the dollars there are hundreds of better rums. Cant see the extreme ratings on either side a 1 2, 9 or 10 says to me that you need to try a few more rums to see what bad and good really are. 4 for me
A decent rum for making cocktails. Not my cup of tea for sipping
This tastes not very well. Oakheart is much better.
it is an ok rum but it needs something, i tend to add a little bit of cinnamon for some extra flavor. it your a fan of spiced rum stay away from this one, very dry.
Bacardi Gold is not a neat sipper since the alcohol flavor and taste is too strong and the burn is just nasty. Go with the Bacardi Oakheart over this one, mix it with Coke and you will be happy with the decision.
