Definitely agree that there are better out there, but this is a nice one too. Very Central American in terms of light color, soft and subtle taste, but without crossing into blandness. I love the bottle too. Definitely could be a bit cheaper but not bad at mid-$20s. Have seen it at JFK duty free for $18, which would be an outrageous bargain.
Good price for a smooth sweet rum. The cubata excellent and straight up too quite sipper.
This was the very first aged rum bottle I ever purchased. Found it in a little gift shop in Vero Beach FL and thought I would try it. This is how I crossed the barrier from bourbon to rum and it was really good, especially for the price. Recommend this all day long to anyone who is looking to get into rum for a small investment.
surprising to me in that I had no knowledge of this brand. I had not read anything, or heard anything pro or con. I got a 1.75 on sale for about $15.00 and have enjoyed it as a mixer.
This is full of tricks. Light amber colour and whisky aroma leads you in one direction, but then the sweet banana and caramal taste is a surprise not expected. The sweetness lingers for a while, but leaves you with a dry slightly oaky aftertaste. A delight for the senses and the wallet.
Excellent for mixing, but the 12 year is better for sipping.
I believe this is the best product they have. Great for mixing. It tastes like no other. The more aged abuelo rums are better than this one.
I may be in the market for a $100+ bottle of rum as a celebratory rum due to something that may be coming up for me. In the discussion area I asked for recommendations and Ron Abuelo Centuria was recommended. Unfortunately no one locally has that in stock and the best I could find was the 7 Anos Reserva Superior. So I picked up a bottle to try. I will say up front that I find this one of the best values for rum. Definitely a fine rum that could be sold for double the price. Right off the bat I noticed the rich aroma in the bottle. Sipping some revealed a very noticeable sweetness...perhaps too sweet for some...however it is balanced with a multitude of flavors that sadly my uneducated palate cannot identify. However after the slow, rather mild burn (yes, it is a smooth rum) faded, I could detect some caramel to it. And that tempts another sip. This rum is a bargain and should be a required addition to any rum cabinet. A "must have". Extremely versatile as well.
Fairly priced and very pleasant.
"A very good introduction to the world of sipping rum."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Good and affordable for those who like it dry! This rum is a bargain depending where you buy it.
FYI I drink it neat. It's not as mahogany colored as other aged rums and even though it is graded at 37,5ยบ and it's not super complex it has character and strenght. This rum is not overly sweet (which is good if that's not your thing), it's woody and carries an oaky flavour. Would like to try the 12 yrs to see what it has to offer over this.
