This is a step above Cpt Private stock with hints of vanilla, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. It made a nice rum and coke.
#5 my Blue Chair Bay horror tour. Why does a mediocre country singers tempoarary sucess mean he knows anything about distilling rum? Answer.........it doesn't. Kenny Chesney is endangering us all. This is so thin and chemical tasting that I am going to keep it to start my charcoal fires.
I tried it cause of the name brand and, I love my rum! Always trying new rums...Although, to each their own. I wonโt buy again as the smoothness was fine but spices and aftertaste left me to be not a fan.
Smells like cola, tastes like cola and spices. Lighter on the vanilla and spices then most spiced rums. Not great, I donโt think a pirate would be caught dead drinkin this.
Way better than captain, tones of vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. A bit on the sweet side, but mixed great with Dr. Pepper!
If you want to try something just a step above regular Capt'n Morgan, try it.
Picked up a small bottle of this rum to try out. The best I can describe it was like rubbing alcohol with some spice in it. I read the reviews and thought sure why not try it. I will not be buying it again.
In my opinion, I actually might enjoy this a bit more than captain. I think it truly depends on my taste that day. If I want the spice flavor but not as much kick I would go with this, but if I want just a touch, and I really mean A TOUCH, more "spice" I'd go captain. I think this is a much smoother mixer and not really supposed to be a sipper, an easy go to with coke. You won't have a bad time, just don't expect any complexity.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The aroma is incredibly enticing, but then......

The aroma on this spiced rum is the best part. One is led to believe that they may have found the ultimate spiced rum. Then one takes a sip and the bitterness washes all of those dreams away. Ice cubes cannot even tame it, so why bother using it in a mixer. I am being generous with my rating of a 5.
This rum also inspires a great analogy. It is like the sweet smelling and very beautiful woman that entices you in. You fall for her and then realize that you are stuck with the woman from hell. Only the very clever ones can talk their way out of these situations. Well with this rum, you have the luxury of pouring the rest of this shit down the toilet. I am not there yet because I spent twenty bucks on it. However, I can see that day coming.
On a good note, the best of the Blue Chair Bay Rums are Coconut, Vanilla, and Banana. Once cream is added, it ruins them. Also stay away from this Spiced rum.
Update April 26, 2019: I tried adding two parts of guava nectar to one part of this rum over lots of ice. Granted, it becomes a low alcoholic content drink, but it tastes just as good as some of the restaurant quality tropical drinks. Your guests would never guess that their drink is just two very simple ingredients. Guava nectar has saved this stuff from going down the toilet. Mango nectar mixes almost as well with this rum.
