My son offered me a glass of this rum from the Esperance distillery in Guadeloupe that produces the Longueteau, Karukera & Papillon brands.
This Longueteau Prélude is a blend of relatively young Agricole’s aged in French oak barrels formerly contained cognac. It is a "brut de fût", so it’s bottled without any reduction of the alcoholic strength.
It has been released in many batches with minor differences in ABV. This one is batch 11 and at ABV 49,8%.
The nose is woody, nutty, fruity, spicy and soft.
On the palate it’s oaky, nutty and spicy with a taste of coffee and hints of vanilla, coconut, pepper and cinnamon.
During the rather long finish the taste of coffee is even more significant.
Overall an elegant and soft Agricole that’s giving an impression of being older than it is.

Aroma is smooth, fruity and fresh. First taste is sweet and fruity, after comes a bit burning and explosion of tastes - but many of them are not very pleasant. Aftertaste is average long and not pleasant.
