Lovely nose with a hint of chocolate and the distinct herbal notes you’ll find in quite a few rums from Trinidad and Guyana.
Medium bodied, nicely integrated alcohol albeit 54.7% ABV, some viscosity. Flavours of nettle, candied orange, Scottish pipe tobacco, toasted pineapple. Long and pleasant aftertaste without any burn. If molasses rum is your thing and you are not a sweet tooth this could be your perfect bottle. Quite faultless.

On the nose: dark caramel, caramelized sugar cane, subtle tropical fruits, oak, some rubber, orange peel, subtle wood glue, like a high-rye bourbon, molasses.

On the palate: dark caramel, subtle sweetness - then intense & dry, subtly bitter (cocoa powder/ dark chocolate).

In the finish: dark caramel, spices, molasses, subtle espresso / cocoa, some rubber / tobacco / leather; long.

The rum is molasses based distilled at Caroni Distillery and aged for 20 years assumingly in ex-Bourbon barrels. It is advertised to be free of additives. The nose is intense with the typical Caroni favors, eg old car tires, rubber, nuts and filled with herbal, fruity and medicinal aromas. On the palate leather and homemade chocolate cream, smoke, apricots, white grapes, black pepper and vanilla . The finish is long with smoke, black pepper and dry plums. I like this rum as the rubber and tire flavors are clearly present but they do not overawe the other flavors. Real grade is 8.5-9.

Aroma is gentle with wood and sweet tones. Same is first second of taste - sweet and woody BUT the comes explosion of many tastes - oil, petroleum, old wet walls, alcohol burning, tannin. Aftertaste is long, burning and bitter. Interesting experience very far away from typical rum profile.

V tomto rumu cítím jedno jediné.
Technikálie, ředidlo. a pak už jen trochu sudu.
Výtečný kousek pro milovníky těchto vůní a hutí v rumech.

Nose: I'm starting to associate the Caroni style as having a rubber tire aroma. It's quite more prominent with this rum but, with time, reveals more singed ginger, asphalt, pepper, and a dark chocolate bar with almonds. Oxidation does the nose well, leading to notes of dried plums, toffee, and a subtle touch of 3-in-1 coffee (a popular kind of instant coffee mix in the Philippines). I also get a bready, almost yeasty, aroma.

Palate: Pleasant surprise comes with the way the development contrasts the nose. This time, the arrival has caramel, coffee-cream liqueur, and strawberry seeds, followed by old coffee beans, yeast, rubber tires, and a wisp of smoke from a smoke machine. The texture is full-bodied and slightly oily.

Finish: Ethanol sting shows up here more than on the palate. Medium-length, with shelled peanuts fried with garlic.
