If you generally like stronger sweet rums, don't get fooled by weak reviews. (I actually purchased it BECAUSE of mixed reviews here. Eg. someone did compare it to "combustion engine taste" here; what a load of bollocks. This rum has absolutely palpable sherry-candied fruit profile + PX style finish.)
Matured in PX Sherry Casks which is pretty palpable in nose and palate. This is a distinctive rum rather easy to figure out, way easier than some complicated blends or really strong white rums. Sherry, raisins, sweet and winey tones, candied fruits are easily found there. They claim "dry and spicy finish" but not really if you're used to real overproofs. This is generally very sweet, mellow, rounded rum to resemble mainstream classics just as Dos Maderas 5+5 (or Indionesian Naga wine or sherry casks rums).
I'd rate higher but I can't as I prefer stronger rums with more "funky" profile but make no mistake, this rum is a solid buy, especially when found around €50 or less. Yet, too much PX presence for me to really enjoy.

Strong, sweet smell. Bitter and harsh neat. With a mixer it’s not too sweet but sweet enough. I like this brand, they’re consistent. A rum I would buy again! Only fault it the smallest element of flatteness in the aftertaste

First impression not great but vastly improved with some time to aerate. Distinctive flavor with lingering aftertaste.

You might be lured in by the floral or wine aromas. Sip it neat and you'll know what an internal combustion engine feels like if it could taste. Where this rum comes to life is when you start mixing with it. Unfortunately it's priced above what I would consider "mixing" rums.

Smells like a perfume, and drinks like a fire water. They overdid it with abv, 50% is too much for a rum.

Lots of the expected floral nose and flavor. A pleasant tingle. But this one has a bitter finish and although I loves me some barrel this is too much of the wrong kind. Has the taste of musty old wine barrels found in a barn after drying for decades.

edit, 1 year later. apparently my pallette has changed. i really appreciate this rum. now. not sure whats changed but the barrel has mellowed a little, and a love the herbal notes. don't know if my perception changed or this is a different expression or something, but i really liked this a lot more. old rating was a 3. now a 6.
