Enghaven 2018 Blackstrap

Very interesting flavour which is similar to cough syrup but in some kind of good twisted way. This will not be for everyone but it is refreshing to taste brand new rum which is not similar to anything else I was drinking.

Good colour and smooth Tasteline, well done denmark.

Easy sipping rum. Big molasses flavour. Treacle, vanilla.

In der Nase sehr frisch und blumig mit weisen Früchten und grünen Äpfeln etwas gewürztes, karamellisiertes Holz im Hintergrund. Erinnert mich stark an einen Rhum Agricole.
Im Gaumen hart aber strukturiert, salziges Karamell und Schokolade mit verschiedenen Gewürzen bilden das Gerüst, daran hängen sich Aromen von Birnen, Beeren, Holz, Gewürzen.....
Im Abgang etwas rau am Anfang, aber lang und lecker, Schokolade, Salz, Karamell..
Ein unglaublicher Rum für sein junges Alter der aber Zeit und eine gute Temperatur braucht um seine inneren Werte zu entfalten.

Rich amber with copper reflections in the glass.
In the nose very fresh and flowery with white fruits and green apples slightly spiced, caramelized wood in the background. Reminds me strongly of a Rhum Agricole.
On the palate hard but structured, salty caramel and chocolate with different spices form the framework, it is flavors depend on pears, berries, wood, spices .....
A bit rough at the beginning, but long and delicious, chocolate, salt, caramel ..
An incredible rum for his young age but takes time and a good temperature to develop his inner values.

The second release from Danish rum distillery Enghaven, Black Strap is a combination of pot and column still rums that has been matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Sweet sherried aromas of ripe berries, bergamot, honey, black tea and lemon fil the nose. The palate offers notes of soft smoke, floral honey, warm spices and ripe plums.

It contains the basis of a good rum for sure, but the weird nose and a bit of iodine flavor keep it from reaching the high scores.

Duft af træ og lakrids, men man aner lidt blomme i Madeira i baggrunden. En anelse smag af bær til at starte med som går i lakrids, men ender i peber, som desværre bliver lidt for gennemtrængene. Men føler der sidder peber og kradser lidt i ganen, på tungen og på læberne. Er ikke sprittet og en positiv oplevelse, når man tænker på den kun har lagret 1-3 år. Dog bliver den ikke en del af mit barskab. (8. December 2018)

Første gang jeg smaker en Rom fra Danmark, og det blir heller ikke siste gang. En litt sterk men samtidig mild og lang ettersmak.

Strong on the nose, reminds me of a Jamaican Mezan XO. Very tasty though

Classic rum, sweet with vanilla, with a very short aftertaste and strong warmth of alcohol. Smells great like whiskey, smoke and caramel. Tastes of sherry infused wood, thick consistency of treacle, buttery and caramelly. A bit too strong an ethanol note for me which is bringing the score down from a potential 7. It was all good till the drink got to the back of the throat, however cola smoothed it all out.
