Pretty good, but also pretty sweet. Not a lot of depth but very smooth.
Just fine for the price I guess but now I have sampled it I wouldn't buy again.
The tasting notes on the label are laughable really with nowhere near the complexity suggested. A one dimensional sweet orange flavour with toffee and a note of coconut adding a little interest, followed by some alcohol burn. A bit crude but inoffensive, I can imagine it is much better as a mixer ...
EDIT - tasted with coke and it's pretty decent.
At this level I would happily pay a little more for the extra depth of flavour from Diplomatico Reserva.
Zamna velmi odporucam :)
Barbadian rum is Jamaican rum's more straight-edged sibling, and Plantation 5-year excels at that. It doesn't try to do anything especially wild or unique, but it does what it does well. Great for when you want a rum that won't drown you in funk or molasses flavoring, but still actually tastes like a rum. It's not particularly exciting as a sipper, but it does that well enough too.
Some burn. Sweet. Not terrible, but not particularly good
I'm not big fan of Plantation brand, but this rum isn't bad. Aroma is sweet like baked cinnamon roll or something simillar baked. In taste is for me too much alcohol, but maybe that makes warm feeling after first sip. Not perfect, but definitelly not bad.
Za mě naprosto skvělý rum v poměru cena/výkon. Svěží ovocná vůně i chuť.
Really easy drinking whether neat or on the rocks. The flavor also lends extremely well to hot buttered rum. It has notes of raisins, dried fruits, and caramel. One I would definitely always keep on hand.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is my go-to dark rum, rivaled in terms of quality-for-value only by Haiti's Rhum Barbancourt Five-Star. Plantation 5-Year Barbados rum is a fine Bajan offering from the house of Cognac Ferrand. The rum is aged for three to four years in bourbon casks in Barbados and is then shipped to France for a period of one to two years' additional aging in casks that previously held Pierre Ferrand cognac. I don't know of any other spirits producer who goes to this amount of time and effort to produce a rum that is available at a price point of roughly $22.99 per bottle.
The nose offers hints of vanilla and caramel. The taste on the palate is smooth, but, full of molasses flavor. This is probably the best value available in a quality dark rum, this spirit excels in cocktails and makes a fantastic "Dark 'n Stormy."
