Pampero Aniversario was first crafted in 1963 to commemorate the Pampero company’s 25th anniversary. The rum is a blend of rums ranging in maturity from four to six years and aged in whisky and bourbon barrels.
The Pampero distillery was founded by Alejandro Hernández of Venezuela in 1938. The brand is now a division of the world’s largest liquor holding company, Diageo.

For me, price is a big factor when rating a rum. I expect more out of an expensive rum - a wow factor.
I can get this rum for a relatively good price and it is very nice. I was expecting a about a 6 or so when i bought this for the first time, but it is really nice for a "go to rum" and in my case and I can easily give it an 8, maybe even a 9.
If it is incredibly expensive where you live, then there are many rums that are as good or better, but in my case, I buy this all the time and happily drink it neat.
it's smooth and just a bit sweet - just how I like it.
I've got a bottle of this rum about 30 years ago from my then ex-girlfriend as a goodbye present when she found her love for live in Venezuela. The rum was delicious so it was kind of fair enough. It was the first rum that was not that white Bacardi stuff that you could only drink mixerd with coke. That first bottle lasted quite long because I only took some on special occasions and sipped it very slowly. But inevitably there comes the moment when every bottle is empty. But the Pampero Anniversario imprinted my love for good Rums in my brain. A bit more than 15 years later I started my first rum collection and one store in town had (still has) an impressive selection of all kinds of spirits including very nice rums. One time I told the shop owner that the Pampero Anniversario would make a excellent addition to his rum section and some 1-2 months later there it was in the shelf! They had an open bottle for tasting and I immediately remembered the dense, almost oily texture and the delicious taste of sugar cane and some vanilla, ripe fruits with a hint of orange that immediately spreaded over my mouth mucosa without being either too sharp or too sweet. Very well balanced. The color is pretty dark brown copper. Just a week ago I discovered the Pampero Anniversario in a large supermarket at a reasonable price and right now I'm sipping and sniffing on a glass of it.
I thought the Pampero Anniversario would make a rather good first rating here and I promise that my upcoming ratings won't be this long! Just one last thing: I don't quite understand the difference between the Pampero Anniversario and the Pampero Anniversario Reserva Exclusiva, as "Reserva Exclusivo" is even written on both labels. My guess is that they are actually both the same. Can someone teach me better?
I have a buddy that really loves his Rum n' Cokes - I pull this one out and serve with Q Kola over ice, and its unbeatable. Rich, compelling, and delicious - working in synergism with the cola rather than just being a spiked soda.
A sipping rum by nature, with oodles of complexity, even PX sherry notes. Over ice, with a cigar, or in an old fashioned is preferred. Is really amazing with cola (go with cane sugar cola, like Coca Cola from mexico, Pepsi 1893, or Q Kola).
dobry ale vsedny rum za dobru cenu. neurazi ani nenadchne. nic co by stalo za zmienku. 6,6/10
My persistence paid off and I found a bottle of this for $30, It is a neat sipper only and should not be mixed with anything. It is not as complex as my present favorite El Dorado 12 from neighboring Guyana, but it belongs in my liquor cabinet. It also has a slight more burn than my El Dorado 12.
Update June 17, 2018: With a half bottle remaining after almost six months, the taste has turned a bit sour, so I have to lower my rating to an 8.
Update April 13, 2019: After having tried so many better rums thanks to advice from this website, I have to drop my rating from an 8 to a 7. This one is simply not as good as my first encounter was.
The leather bag it comes in looks great on the shelf. The contents are ok. Initial taste was strong with coffee and sweet notes. Some ice to mellow is pretty key here.
It's fine. Not one that I'll be in. Rush to buy again, but perfectly serviceable. That shelf look though.
Color is on the darker side of tea.
Smells... well it's hard to place my finger on that. Crazy as it may sound, somewhere between dried fruit zest with woody over tones.
As for flavor, sweet to start with but soon turns peppery and spicy.
For me there seams to be no real balance and am therefore disappointed with the cost point-experience factor.
Buen ron Buenas notas a vainilla y canela. Típico ron venezolano
Quite light and buttery.
"It’s a pleasant nose which suggests good ageing and there is a light oak to the nose which is well balanced."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Since the bottle is wrapped in real leather and the bottle is well made I came to believe it would be the equal to my favourite of 12yrs El Dorado. But no. The odeur was unpleasant and the taste likewise. For the price not good. There are much better rums for less money. Big dissatisfaction
