Not a great rum by any means, but a very good example of "German rum", i.e. the style of rum popular in Germany, especially the northern part of Germany.
Not meant to be consumed neat, even though that does not hurt either. It is meant for driking with hot water (grog), with tea or to be used for baking.

Nose and taste are the same really. The colour is irrelevant, as it is sure to have been coloured.
A hint of alcohol, but not really sharp. Baking spices, mulled wine, slightly funky. Not very intense, but funky and robust enough to come through most drinks. Funky enough to know that their is Jamaica in there.
Not an elegant drink. It does not say "Verschnitt" on the bottle, so according to German law this must be only rum, with no other alcohol added. It is safe to assume that it is a blended rum, probably something very cheap (maybe Lidl's standard Captain Cook stuff) with some Jamaica rum for flavour. Works quite OK, could be way worse. If tasted blind, I might guess that it could be a Verschnitt (basically vodka with about 5% high ester Jamaica rum). That is not a critique of this rum, I am quite fond of well-made Rumverschnitt.

This is what German people normally think of when they think of "rum". Servicable, does not hurt. Much better than most of the trendy party rums and superior to nearly all the glittery "premium" rums.

Perfect for hot grog - but, depending on taste, you might prefer the 54% version for that.

I had a small bottle of an old version of this, 1980s, I assume. Quality is better in newer versions. The old one was metallic, chemical and with a strange off-note to it. Somewhat funky, but not in a good way. Might have been a problem with storage, but I think enough of the underlying characteristics remained to warrant a judgement.
