Hard to explain why it feels so warm, but not burning.
Hard to explain why I'm thinking of sugar cane only, but not of all those hundreds sorts of rums I've consumed.
Hard to explain explain why we are sitting on the sofa - as this label suggests this is the drink for the dancing party, so seduce your half and start to rave!
Bravo Clairin!
Un rum rustico, quasi primordiale, prelibatezza per veri intenditori
I really like every Clairin but the backstory of this is why I prefer this as one of my favorites. Pure, spirit driven, round and tastefull, it is what I search in a agricole...
A very solid way to change genres with your rum. I found it much tamer than other reviews suggested, but maybe it's just this edition.
Nose: overripe tropical fruit, pineapple rind, bell peppers, wet grass.
Palate: anise/licorice, tropical fruit, peppers, yeast tartness. But also umami and salty, something like miso.
Finish: long, anise candy.
TLDR: anise, pineapple and miso soup.
Sounds cursed, but it's great. Really.
Primitive means great! Small pot still, a rum full of esters and congeners. WOW.
This is incredibly aggressive on the nose the minute the cork comes out. Olives, brine, rotting fruit - just a faceful. Then the palate (I'll admit to sampling this in a Ti' Punch format to soften the intensity a bit) is herbal, briny, olives again, some rubber tire in there. Rounded out with some dilution. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but a rum experience unlike any other...
Funky aroma, anis seed in the nose with sugar syrop, fresh citrus taste with woody anis touches. Very special funky rum! Different but so good!
One of the simpler Clairins - maybe good entry in the Champions Legue
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I absolutely love Vaval. This is a fantastic agricole rum that I will drink for years to come. Great job Haiti!
