My next door neighbor bought a bottle in the USA for 3 dollars. I was not looking forward to trying a bargain rum but was quite surprised when I got to try it. It has a very light nose and extra clear in the bottle. Tasting a shot was surprisingly smooth with a light fruity flavour and I did not find it sweet at all. I prefer an aged rum but this would make a great mixer for those that donโ€™t like rum flavour.

Had very low expectations from this rather unknown brand. i will start with stating that my 7 rating is a White Rum rating, i use to drink my Alcohol straight with no dilution or ice. so every tasting and every bottle i finish was finished straight. or as should be. if something isn't drinkable or is harsh or gives me a negative experience i will be the first to write against a product. so with that cleared i am aware this is a rather unknown brand. from what i learned, sold mostly in Duty free america and by Paneco in Panama Singapore and Israel. which are the operators of the Duty free network, the producer of the Caribana Sol Rum family is company called Innovative Liquors which is owned by the former. the Rums are Bottled in Wisconsin, USA and are described as Barbados Virgin Rum. as i have no way to verify where the actual rum is produced and distilled i will leave it as is.
as for my drinking experience, i had the chance to purchase a large 1,14 litre bottle of this Rum and two liter bottles of the Oscuro. The Light, White Rum, which i prepared myself for a harsh to undrinkable experience due to the cheap price and lack of tasting information i was sure it would be the exact material mixers are made of. however to my surprise i got this bottle soon after i finished my first bottles of Plantation 3 stars white rum and El Dorado 3 Years, both, excellent and very high quality white rums. and while being compared to these top of their league rums. i found sipping the Caribana Sol white as a very pleasant experience, it is surely well distilled liquid, not as aged as the former mentioned but surely delivers a smooth and quite sweet tooth experience. it is very easy to drink and goes down gently, making it easy to overdrink as a sipper. i am sure a year or two more of maturation would make this juice climb even higher levels. but so far this was a very positive experience and will surely buy more of it, as it is rather cheap and very drinkable.
