Beautiful clear, rich forest honey coloured amber in the glass.
In the nose, wow, the whole room fills up with special scents and brings a smile to your face. Unbelievable this wide range of fragrances. Aged wood and fat caramel in the deep, dark forest, on some trees sticks resin and "Bazooka Bubble Gum". Vanilla and candied tropical fruits lure you deeper and deeper into it. But there is something else special, the Savanna fingerprint of slow fermentation. A medicinal blend of star anise, cardamom, cumin, liquorice root juice, glue, medicine, herbs and a little lemon zest.
On the palate, simply tremendous, a parade of flavours. To begin with, the heavy aromas spread out on the tongue, strongly toasted wood, old wood, wood dipped in caramel, wood dipped in cognac, wood dipped in dark chocolate.... The lighter aromas take a little longer to be captured. Tropical fruits grilled on a sugar cane leaf fire, refined with vanilla and garnished with red berries, as a topping there are dozens of aromas of all kinds.
In the finish long, very long, surely the 400 curves to Cilaos lasts. Caramel chocolate with wood shavings a little bit from a campfire and again bazooka. The rest of the aromas also stick to the tongue for an extremely long time.
What a rum! It is not identified as HERR, but it is certainly close. Has a certain affinity with the Velier Savanna HERR, plus all the wood and cognac notes.
For experts of High Ester Rum, connoisseurs and professionals. 9+

Grand Arôme is a speciality of the Savanna Distillery with an extended fermentation.

Color: Bright golden amber

Nose:
Lovely and very intensive ... sweet with an exotic spiciness ... unique and hard to describe.
Quite fruity ... dates and dried figs.
Pickled ginger with soy sauce ... chestnuts and stewed hare :)

Palate:
Bold and mouth filling with a mild peppery spiciness.
Then there are fruity aromas that remind me of home-made lemonade and mangos. Furthermore notes of toffee and oak.

Finish:
Long and spicy with toffee. The aftertaste is dry and slightly medicinal.
