Malibu Coconut Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and blended with coconut and sugar. The brand is owned by one of the world's largest spirits producers, Pernod Ricard.
Currently produced in Canada, Malibu Coconut rum was originally made in Curaçao from fruit spirits flavored with coconut and rum. The original recipe was developed as a shortcut for bartenders making Piña Coladas, however today the stands on its own.

This is a safe, cheap Coconut mixer. Nothing more or less. Brings back sweet memories of School and early Clubbing days...
I've only ever used this in pina coladas, and it is fine for adding in that coconut flavor.
It’s a simple and cheap rum for when you need something to mix to add flavor or for when going to a party. Honestly started my rum addiction.
Its coconut liqueur at the end of the day. As a coconut liqueur it sets out what it accomplishes to do.
Drink it neat if you like coconut, or throw it in some lemonade for a beachy feeling simple mixed drink
Smells like sunscreen.
If you like fruity flavors with alcohol then boom. This what you need. It ain't crazy good or "deep" but it ain't terrible. Don't go in like a snob and you'll be fine. The coconut is really good. Literally mix it with anything you think you'll find good with coconut and you'll enjoy. Or just drink it straight bc that's great too. Definitely worth the $9 (give or take a lil) that is spent.
Not a rum, its liqueur with Coco flavor. Okay for pinacolada drinks.
Is what it is not sure if I would purchase as a “rum” maybe to stock in bar.
The rum is almost not present, the overall feeling is - sweet coconut water.
I question if this even really a rum or is just a liquor . Enjoy it on a hot summer day in a MBB.

Sweet and BITTER???

Malibu Coconut Rum…Malibu is synonymous with the flavored rum category. Heck they might have invented it! Isn’t this usually everyone’s first coconut rum? Here I am just now getting to it. Was it worth the wait? Nope.
The aroma when I first opened the bottle was very nice. Pretty much what i expected. The smell suntan lotion. It’s like being poolside at a cheap hotel on a hot day. The taste? I was a bit let down. Sure there was some coconut and sugar. Lots of sugar really. But still I can’t believe with all that sweet how much of a bitter finish there is in Malibu Coconut Rum. Quite a bit of astringency for only clocking in at 42 octane. Even with a very small amount in my standard Tampico Citrus Punch that bitter finish just reared it’s ugly…tail.
The verdict? I will stick to Whaler’s or Cruzan for my low octane coconut rum mixers. Parrot Bay 90 proof coconut rum when I need some kick.
