Dejlig og blød med endnu mere af de lakrids noter jeg holder af ved 20 års versionen
Teurer aber einer der besten Rum. Man riecht extrem die lange Lagerung im Holzfass.
So, my first official review of a rum. And what a great one it is. The Dictador 1979 is one of the best rums I have ever tasted. This rum is really smooth and a little complex. This rum has tones of coffee, caramel and leather.
This is the oldest rum I've tried so far, aged 36 years (much older than me), and also my first meeting with Dictator best of series. Every year several casks are bottled, I have no idea how much they should differ but let me note down that this review concerns cask 79-1111, 41.8% ABV.
From the first sniff one can say it belongs to the Dictator family, with it's unique scents: coffee and chocolate. A combination of oak and dark dessert chocolate dominates but there is much more: toasted wood, grapefruit and lime zest, together with other indistinct fruits peels and juices. Tasting it back-to-back with the 20yo one can sense which is the older one.
In the mouth the rum is dry with very little sourness. This smooth experience begins with the taste of cocoa powder and dense dark chocolate, which is followed by coffee and fruity notes. Subsequently the dry oak and walnuts appear and the intense cocoa aftertaste, accompanied by caramelized banana and dry oak constitute a long-lasting aftertaste. Despite I listed the notes which are generally connected to sweetness, this rum is a very dry one.
The "best of 1979" is doubtlessly a level up rum, compared to the basic range of Dictator.
I love this. The age makes a beautiful nose of old leather libraries. There is a lovely tingle that only comes from long aging. The taste has a range of toffees and burnt caramels and an influence of saltines. It would be a perfect 10 but for a bitter note in the after taste. But i love this rum.
39 let zrání, ročník 1979
Alkohol: 41 %
Původ: Kolumbie
Aroma: Závan třešňové pálenky a třešňového likéru, Bari mandle, pikantní kořenitost a špetka medicínskosti. (87 b)
Chuť: Chuť naprosto věrně kopíruje dojem z aroma, takže medicínskost, Bari mandle a třešně. (87 b)
Body: 87/100
This is a rum for those, who like dry rums. It is nice but will not become one of my favorites.
It's like a perfumed Coffee Liqueuer. Toffee, caramel and dark chocolate are also present along with some raisin notes.
"The sweetness is less pronounced but it just tastes like young cheap alcohol mixed with some sugar syrup and some kind of coffee flavouring. It’s thin and slightly bitter – the oak spice what little there is just harsh and bitter."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Smooth rich flavours of leather, caramel, molasses, liquorice with a slight nutty finish and a subtle natural sweetness that is perfectly balanced. This is a real treat and worth every penny/cent.
