Buddy of mine got me hooked on this amazing Hawaiian Rum, find it sweet to my pallet.
Koloa is responsible for my affinity for this spirit. I am a particular fan of the gold, dark, and coconut. So good. So smooth. Dangerous AF.
I like to mix it with orange seltzer, a little of the koloa coconut, and a tiny splash of guava nectar for a strong, smooth, flavorful, somewhat low calorie mai tai.
A friend gave me a bottle of this.I was surprised how good this is with coke and alittle lime..Just like some fellow posters had stated,it is pricey so probably wont find this on my home bar.
It's so smooth and has an amazing vanilla flavor but also the nice deep dark rum flavor still there as well!
Another hard to find rum unless on the west coast. I fell in love with this one sipping it down in the Keys. It has a very unique taste. I would imagine you could make some great mixed drinks with it such as mai tai's. I personally enjoy sipping it and getting the great taste of sugar cane from Hawaii.
Of all the Hawaiian rums, and especially Koloa's offerings, this is the most unique. If I want to drink an almost spiced rum, this one-of-a-kine tops the list. You know, da kine? If I want to splurge on an Aloha-style Mai Tai, this one has to be the the dark topper. Aloha Nui Nui to the friends at Koloa Rums! Lotsa vanilla!
Put me in the minority that enjoyed this on the rocks as much as I did in a mai tai. I prefer a sweeter profile, and this delivers. Nice, deep caramel and molasses on the nose that carries through the palette. It might lack the complexity of some of the finer aged rums, and the price runs on the high side outside Hawaii, but I would consider this to be a special spiced rum.
Great flovor! A little sweeter than others due to the sugar cane, both smell and taste,, but not too much. Great brand and I will definitely try more from there
The dark is best neat. A different taste and notes, not better nor worse than Carribean rums, but a refreshing different rum.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
