Appleton Estate Reserve

This is definitely a step up from the V/X for a nominal price increase.

I tend to favor Jamaican rum and this is fairly smooth with a nice flavor. I like it best at room temp with just a little water added. Appleton's better rums aren't available here in Ohio so I can't compare to others. It's definitely smoother than the VX.

Any night I am relaxing by a fire in the fire pit in the yard, if there is a cigar in my hand there is Appleton in my glass. I use frozen soap stones to chill it, as I feel ice thins it to much and takes away form some of the notes. I love this rum.

Still a great um though! Can't beat the price for the quality you're getting off the shelf.

A bit more body and texture than the V/X, so a nicely finished and reasonably good sipper, but still affordable enough to have as a (REALLY TASTY) mixer (for some REALLY NICE friends).

One of my favorite Jamaica rums. Love the color and aroma. Distinctive taste straight or mixed.

This is the next best thing.
Shares a lot of good qualities with the 12 but a clear step down.

Nose: Nice and funky grass and fruit.
Feel: A bit too much up front bite but it makes up for it with the long tail of flavours you get with an Appleton.
Taste: A little wood, but mainly caramel and that grassy funk from before.
Presentation: You can't complain about much at this end of the market.
Price: 31 Canadian. Just spend the extra few dollars and get the 12.

An absolute bargain and better sipped than mixed.

An excellent rum that is sweet and smooth. Can be sipped on or mixed with your favorite beverage. Highly recommend!
