Una reserva única
Hope this becomes available in the United States soon. Too bad it will have to be renamed due to copyright issues. However this is a very good rum with some sweetness to it and a nice flavor. A little harsh and quite the immediate burn. Awesome in mixed drinks, especially frozen ones with a little 151 floater on top. Also makes wonderful rum punches on the fly.
First tasted Havana Club in the Caymans and then later in Aruba. I like the strength of this rum. It tastes like a powerful Cuban rum with hints of caramel. I like it on the rocks, but it is great with cola as well.
Worst thing about this rum is it's been discontinued. Only bought as a spur of the moment buy & both glad I did & didn't. As soon as I tried it, it became my favourite rum along with the Appleton's 12, but at a more affordable price. Got that classic rum taste but it's smooth as silk. It's even so good it got my vodka & liqueur drinking sister into rums other than Malibu.
A cherished part of my collection
I bought this on a criuse and did not drink until I came home. I transported it in some rum runners that I used on vacation and it may have picked up some extra flavors. It has a sweet fruitiness that I have never tasted in a non-flavored rum. I will have to pick another bottle up this summer to see if the flavor is true.
I got a bottle of this in Canada while on vacation, came home and tried it in a couple of mixed drinks and on the rocks. For being a 5-6yr, it's not bad.
Tasted this recently and found it to be flavorful, slightly woody/dry, but a little harsh and thus the 8 rating although I almost rated this a 9. I enjoyed it more with just a little water added or on the rocks. Dispite the harshness, it's delicious...and I'm looking forward to the day when the embargo is lifted and Cuban rum will once again flow in the USA.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
