Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
Again a rum that I often use in cocktails, some classic and some maniacal creations. If you want a versatile rum then these lower cost Havana's are really 'go to' rums. They are also great learning tools on how subtle differences in flavour profile make a good deal of difference to a cocktail.
Just the right amount of sweetness for me , I can sip this with just ice but normally a very good mixer and good value as well , big step up from Havana 3 year.
A little different then the 7y.
A like it a bit better then 7y.
Still with cola for me.
Still clubbing drink.
Havana Club is a good general drinking rum - mixed cocktail.
Good cheap rum from Cuba. Last time got one in Varadero Airport duty-free shop for less then 10$.
Sehrguter rum wie bei dem 7 jährigem gut in cocktails oder on the Rocks.
Great with coke. Suitable for sipping. Good value for money. Paid €16,- for 70cl. 7.5/10
Very nice rum to make some good rum cocktails. Because of it smoothness and sweetness you can sip it as well.
Cheap. Mixes very well. Has quelled many a mutiny in these waters.
This is a tasty rum you can mix with and sip. It is smooth and sweet but a bit strong.
Not as burned as the 7-year Club Havana and much more sweet. Leaves a nice flavour of apple.
Pas grand chose à redire, un peu trop sur l' éthanol pour être apprécié seul. Mais de la subtilité. Parfait en Cuba libre.
A ne surtout pas melanger...mais ne pas hesiter a le boire sur glace
As good as the 7 year old Havana Club, but smoother.
The bottle is of standard good quality with the archetypical Havana Club logo. The rum is dark golden/light brown with a sharp grassy and unpleasant smell. It has a sweet caramel tohether with some fruity taste on one side, and strong ethanol on the other. This is good for mixing. More expensive than the Havana Club 3 Year, but not quite worth the extra.
Bought this by mistake the 1st time thinking it was the Reserva. Glad I did though. Nothing special here, but if you can get it on special it's a decent rum at a decent price. It's a go to rum. Now you can leave the better more expensive rums for the more special occasions.
I like to mix this rum with cola.
It is not a rum i would drink on it's own as a sipping rum.
Once you open the bottle it has a very strong smell, but when mixed with cola it smells very nice in the glass.
This is one of the greatest rums I have ever tasted. Mellow tast, beautiful oak aroma. One of the finest by far. Only available in Cuba.
Un petit 4x4 au prix imbattable. Doux et épicé, tout le monde peu l'apprécié. Il dépanne pour tout même avec un cigare.
As others have said, this rum is quite strong and the alcoholic aftertaste may put some off. It's a great mixer, with coke and lime especially, but it does work as a sipping rum if you're into stronger blends.
To harsh as a sipper for me but certainly good for mixing.
This bottle will always remind me of the time attending the Tropicana show in Havana. A bottle of this was included with 2 very small cans of coke.
Finished the bottle by the end of the show though.
