Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.
Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

Cuban rums are a mixed batch really. But they often give a good insight into what the "Spanish" style of rums can be if not ruined by too much sugar.
Havana Club makes such rums - honest, relatively unconcocted, mass-produced but down-to-ground.
The 7-year-old version has a nice oaky aroma, which is close to bourbon in a way. Sweet, but subdued. Light, delicate, a bit floral, a slight hint of smoke in the oak. A bit of tobacco, a bit of leathery dryness. Medium sweetness in the mouth, finish is relatively dry.
Not overly complex, but not boring. There is enough to explore, but it is not an adventure rum. Good for sipping while having a good conversation or while enjoying the sunset. Not something that demands attention. But still possible to talk about this rum, if you know what I mean.
I find it makes for a good sipping rum. For mixing, I do prefer bolder rums. If you just want something that will be OK-ish in a drink, this is too expensive. For other purposes, I would choose something with more punch. I think this really is a light, elegant sipping rum.
This is the base historical rum ,well balanced, not so spicy and not sweet. You can drink it on the rocks and for serious coctails (old fashioned )
Not that great but also not that bad for the price. I ended up using it as a mixer and it was actually quite good.
After I began to explore rums, I started to sample everything I could. Light, dark, spiced, aged, blends, etc. This was one of those exploration purchases; unplanned and not researched.
"Hey I liked that 3yr old Havana Club, this must be good too." It was good, but not anything special or overly memorable.
Nice aroma without any standouts, flavor was pleasant with no memorable notes or experiences, and a nice finish.
Overall a good drink, you could certainly do worse... or better. If you are looking for an experience, move on past. If you want a solid rum and coke, this will do nicely.
affordable, tasty and pleasant rum. im always happy to have a Havana club 7 year at home
I was expecting something more. Not bad, not great. Very smoky, which I normally like but here not so much. Wont buy it again: will either save pennies and go with the less expensive Havana Club 3 years or save up for a really exceptional rum.
I tried this straight up and it's got a musky taste to it. Can't put my taste bud on it but it doesn't cut it as a sipper. Now as a mixer I think this is the best rum that I know of for a rum and coke. Friends kept bringing it back as a gift for house sitting and I have a lot of it. Well enough to last through the travel embargo to Cuba because of Covid.
Havana Club Añejo 7 Años has a dazzling and clear mahogany colour...

'caramel, cane sugar, and a bit of cinnamon character in the finish'
"Havana Club 7-Year rum review by Drinkhacker"
Their is a creamy/buttery vanilla like smell oak, dry tobacco and smokiness.
"It’s very hot, spicy and very bitter. Luckily the burn isn’t bad and very short. Subsequent sips are much smoother."

Muy rico con coca predomina el sabor del ron no del alcohol ni lo opaca ya tanto la cola.
