Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.
Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

Cuban version hard to get here in US so feel lucky to try. Nice carmel and vanilla without the bourbon overtones that a lot of rums have.
firm, sharper rum with a dominant alcohol flavor. you smell a box full of cigars. just too much of a good thing. I like a rum that is just a little sweeter.
I've been told that the predominant alcohol taste diminishes after the bottle has been opened for a week. I'm curious
very nice and tasty 7y rum. good with cuban cigars.
This rum good for mixing, much better than anejo, not sweet a little burn from alcohol
This is probably the rum I have drink the most and at some point of my life my favorite and best rum ever tried. Not anymore though, there a few others than can easily take that place but I would still go back to glass of Havana Club 7 años with a smile on my face.
For me, this is the quintessential dark rum. It's a deep copper colour with just the right amount of molasses and tobacco on the nose. Taste-wise it's not too sweet with hints of caramel, honey, smoke and spice. It's got a light burn with a vanilla finish. For a refined palette, this is a perfectly balanced rum.
All Cuban rums are made with cultured yeast using traditional methods. Havana Club is a national treasure and every sip of Havana 7yo takes me back to three memorable weeks on the Island. This rum is delicious sipped, with any mixer, in cocktails and is tasty when in desserts and coffee. It also pairs rather well with a Cuban cigar.
This is a classic rum, priced right (especially at Singapore duty-free) and is always in my liquor cabinet.
So got given this as a present from a friend who is also into his rum. My go to is normally spiced rather than aged but thought let's give it a blast. Straight of the bat it's very heavy on the tobacco flavour, very similar to dead man fingers spiced. A little too overpowering for me and not much notes of of much else. Mixed it definitely dampens that aroma but it's still lingering. Don't think it's a bad rum, pretty smooth with a very warm finish just not my taste!
Living in the US, this isn't obtainable, so I was very interested in picking this up when I was traveling. This is decent rum, but would be far better at a higher strength.
Havana Club Añejo 7 Años has a dazzling and clear mahogany colour...

'caramel, cane sugar, and a bit of cinnamon character in the finish'

Their is a creamy/buttery vanilla like smell oak, dry tobacco and smokiness.
"It’s very hot, spicy and very bitter. Luckily the burn isn’t bad and very short. Subsequent sips are much smoother."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This was on offer at £21 so had to be worth a punt. As a sipper I'm not so keen on the dark, almost coffee-ish notes - the more approachable golden flavours of Havana Club Anejo Especial are more appealing. But with coke it's a different game and it's a really solid mixer, no complaints at all!
