Elusive "Limited Edition, Out-of-production, None left anywhere" Rums are a PITA to find, but when you do you appreciate them even more.
I'll be updating this review as soon as it arrives (2 LONG weeks), but if it follows in the tradition of quality/taste vs price ratio I've grown accustomed to from Appleton (so far, the "Exclusive" is my favourite and WAS my most expensive), it will be amazing.
If it wasn't for the fact that there are so few bottles of this one remaining, I'm pretty sure it would get to be my "GoTo" rum for special occasions.
A robust and complex blend created around a rare and exquisite 30 year old rum, a testament to the art of the master blenders that have made Appleton estate rums world famous.
I have polished off 2 bottles of this rum so far and I have one bottle squirreled away for a special occasion. As another reviewer mentioned, this was a limited edition bottling that is pretty much impossible to find now. Of all of the highly aged rums I've tried (15 years of age or greater), this is my favourite. Because this rum is a blend of 30 year old rum with much younger rums, you get the deep spicey, vanilla, oak notes, but it is tempered with the freshness and vibrancy of the younger rums.
Nose: Very aromatic. Mushy banana, flan con leche in caramel sauce, brown sugar syrup, butter pecan, orange zest, seared pineapple, vanilla custard, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and a touch of anise.
Taste: Brown sugar, molasses, vanilla buttercream, dried stone fruits. These notes develop over time in the glass with baking spices, orange peel, apricot and clementine on the exit. Exquisite!
A great, smooth rum. Wonderful to have on the rocks!
I like its aroma.Great rum that will having you wanting more.
While not Appleton'signature top rum, the taste is outstanding. This blend includes rums up to 30 years old and to me has more flavor than their 21 year old bottle.
This is a great rum. Almost a great as the 21 year old but I'm still going to give it a 10 Rating because the rum is still outstanding. The only bad thing about this rum is that I can't get it in the US.
This is a remarkable aged blend that will leave your throat and belly warm. It's very smooth for such a potent blend, it needs to be sipped and served in a proper glass to dissipate the vapors so you can truly smell he aromas.
I was lucky to get this from NY. I have tasted a few of the Appleton products and have to say that this is one of the best ones. Nose is little "flat" but taste is fantastic.
I managed to snag the last three bottles of this stuff at the "LC".
Overall, I would say it is very comparable to the 21 year old; maybe even a fraction better.
The only thing stopping me from scoring it higher is the bottle presentation. This rum deserves better then a cheap metal screw top.
Elegant compare to other appleton rum. I like its aroma.
