Captivating. Can take a few rounds to get acquainted, as it's shamelessly powerful. The nose is intense and slightly candy like with pronounced citric oils, varnish and softer notes of banana and oak. Just bloody wonderful. The taste is immensely flavourful with the notes from the nose following through even more intensely alongside salty almonds, honey and liquorice. The finish lingers compactly for a good long while. Finger licking good. Love it. Oh and let it breathe a bit.

Funky, heavy Jamaican esters at 68,5% - who could resist this? Leather, tobacco, esters - did I mention esters already? Nail polish on the nose, fruits on the palate. A drop of (cough!!!) Stroh momentarily on the palate. Nevertheless, a proper Jamaican BIG bwoy.

Caution - not for faint-hearted. Nor sweetened light rons amateurs ^^
Typical Hampden nose = big esters, varnish, glue, ananas, zests, green olive-brine, earth, dry wood...
You'll find that again on the palate with even more olives.
Never ending finish with a more vetegal parts.
Not the most refined nor complex Hampden I know but what a beast ^^
At 67% abv it is not forbidden to add some drops of water, which does not really change the profile but tempers down a little bit the alcohol burn.
Nez typique Hampden = grosse concentration d'esters, ananas, zestes, vernis/colle, saumure d'olive verte, minéralité "terreuse", boisé assez sec.

There is no olfactory analysis, however detailed, that can remotely suggest the superb and sumptuous complexity of scents that invade and stun the nose ... there is all the Jama that we have learned to follow in balanced and careful ways in others rum, but now it is sublimated and triggered in just one breath right under our nose.
The palate is even more: the moment of amazement that stops the time between the first sip and the tongue is the dream of every true buccaneer and the insolent and direct arrogance of this Hampden is the unforgettable synthesis of the most sweet kisses, in the unexpected and violent slap of a woman who hates you but wants you with all her organic voluptuousness'.
These few lines of mine do not want to describe aromas, flavors or traces of taste, but only invite you to discover, in the den of over 500 esters and 68 degrees, the ferocity and beauty of an experience that literally takes your breath away.
I am sure that there are few rums better than this, but the best fuck I did not do with a model.

Sorry x my english ... Google translator

This bottling of Habitation Velier comes from Jamaica from the Hampden Distillery and was made in 2010 in Pott Style. It carries the Mark HLCF and thus has 550 gr/laa ester. This puts him in the middle of the pack. The rum was allowed to be stored tropical for 6 years and was then bottled in an impressive cask strength of 68.5% alcohol without additives or filtration. It is the first fully tropical Hampden ever bottled.

The rum has a fantastic nose. Not a pure ester bomb. I get tropical fruit, ripe banana to fermented fruit. Season with vanilla. But also citrus fruits and barrel aromas with nut and light glue. Over time, the profile changes somewhat. There is a high level of complexity here. On the palate, the alcohol is perfectly integrated. I get candied fruit, tropical fruit but also spice, barrel influence and a slight chemical note. The rum is warm and intense, creamy and full-bodied. The finish is a little spicier, but the fruit remains present. It will be a little more fermented with vanilla, dried fruits and more wood. The rum becomes drier and stays nice and long with a pleasant sweetness in the mouth.

What shall I say. Simply delicious and at the highest level. The ester content leaves room for a nice complexity and the tropical storage makes the rum creamy, round and strong. In addition, it is already a classic and in terms of quality it is hard to get something like that with new bottlings. That's why I'm more than happy to habe one.

Was soll ich sagen.

This is the best rum I have tried so far.
40% angels share and 550 esters.
I am a whisky lover and normally don't like whisky's that are too young. This rum is only 6 years old and so full of taste, it is really amazing.
Tar, black olives, camphor, woody and extremely powerful. Just love it.
